Former WWE wrestler Ridge Holland has experienced a whirlwind last few weeks and he's trying his best to calm things down.
After suffering an injury while wrestling at a TNA event, the NXT wrestler was diagnosed with a significant foot injury that would sideline him for eight months. In the midst of this, Holland was handed a notice that his WWE contract would not be renewed and he took to social media to express his frustration which resulted in the company moving up his end date.
A GoFundMe was then set up to help him and his family through the ordeal but that drew some criticism from fans, prompting the latest development - Holland's statement earlier today that the GoFundMe has stopped taking donations and all proceeds that have been generated would be donated to charity. Here is what he said:
“Thank you all for the incredible support shown through the GoFundMe campaign.
However, I want to clarify that I was not aware the page was going live and had no prior discussion with the family member who created it.
I’ve since requested that no further donations be accepted, and this change should take effect within the next 24 hours.
One we figure out how to move forward and I recoup the amount donated, I will be donating said amount to charity.
I sincerely apologize if the page caused any upset or offense — that was never the intention. Thank you for your understanding and kindness.”
