Hollywood A-Lister and former WWE creative team writer Freddie Prinze Jr. recently had a conversation with actor and long-time pro wrestling fan Macaulay Culkin on his Wrestling with Freddie podcast from iHeart Media’s My Cultra Network, where he revealed that the WWE actually offered to sell the company to FOX, but an agreement was not reached because the amount wasn't something they wanted.
Freddie Prinze Jr. said:
“I haven’t said this before, but I’ll say it now because it has been long enough.” “I was talking to a dude who was interviewing to be their COO, or they wanted to interview. They ended up going with Nick Khan, he had passed but he wanted to talk to me about the company. So we were just talking about the brand and all this, and he goes ‘yeah, they wanted us to buy the whole product.’ He’s an exec at FOX. He goes ‘they wanted us to buy the whole brand but the number they wanted wasn’t a number we were going to pay, so we licensed SmackDown instead.'”
Freddie Prinze Jr. also talked about how he literally felt bad for former WWE Star Karrion Kross when he was moved to the main roster as they changed his character into something that was really poor and unrecognizable to what Karrion Kross really is or should be.
Freddie Prinze Jr. said:
“When he came out [On RAW], in like the porno dungeon mask, and the red suspenders, I literally felt bad for the guy. I didn’t even know him. I reached out to a wrestler that I do know, who I happened to know was on the road with him, and I was ‘Yo man, give that dude a hug for me!'”
