Friday Night SmackDown Quick Recap for August 26, 2022

Matches Tonight: Four (approx. 30 minutes)
  • Singles Match: Ricochet vs Happy Corbin. Corbin was violent and dominant for the entire match but Ricochet hit his comeback in the final seconds, picking up the win with the Shooting Star Press. Corbin was impressive as he's gradually repackaging as a more serious, violent Superstar. 8:04-8:17pm EST.
  • "Second Chance" Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match: Brooke & Tamina vs Shotzi & Lia vs Doudrop & A.S.H. vs Natalya & Deville. Incredibly short match that saw Sonya Deville & Natalya win, who now advance to face Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah later this evening, with the advancing team squaring off against Kai & Sky in the finals Monday Night on Raw. 8:32-8:35 pm EST.
  • WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Tournament, Semi-Finals Match: Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah vs Sonya Deville & Natalya. Bayley joined commentary and harassed Cole, with Pat McAfee's help, the entire match. Awesome. Aliyah spent most of the match down and Raquel carried their team to a victory. They'll face off with Kai & Sky Raw in the finals. 9:05-9:14pm EST.
  • Singles Main Event Match: Drew McIntyre vs Sami Zayn. Decent match that saw Drew pick up the win, only to take a beating from Roman Reigns post match. And then the Usos, Sami Zayn, and Roman completely destroyed the number-one contender, leaving his back with lacerations after multiple chair-shots, steel step attacks, and a variety of finishers and signature moves that lasted nearly as long as the match. 9:43-9:53pm EST.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
  • It's a New Day, yes it is...: After weeks of issues with the Viking Raiders, and a viking funeral held in the New Day's honor last week, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods hinted at dissolving the New Day but it was a ploy, designed to (successfully) draw out the Viking Raiders. The New Day then beat them with kendo sticks. 9:22-9:28pm EST>
  • Next Week's Go-Home Edition of Raw: Women's Tag Team Championship Tournament Finals (Kai & Sky vs Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah); Kurt Angle (it's from Pittsburgh).
  • Next Week's Go-Home Edition of SmackDown: Ronda Rousey's "Final Judgement," whatever that is. Also, we'll have the in-ring debut of Karrion Kross w/ Scarlett. Maximum Male Models vs Hit Row; Butch vs Ludwig Kaiser; Roman Reigns' 2-Year Anniversary as Champ; Viking Raiders vs New Day in a Viking Rules match (falls count anywhere, no rules, no DQ).
