Tonight's episode is the penultimate episode ahead of next weekend's WrestleMania 38 two-day special, and aired live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY! Tonight's show felt quite disjointed and was very, very disappointing when compared to the record-setting wrestling-to-airtime ratio of this week's NXT 2.0.
Friday Night SmackDown Quick Recap for March 25, 2022
Matches Tonight: Five (approx. 28 minutes total)
- Singles Match: Shinsuke Nakamura w/ Rick Boogs vs Jimmy Uso w/ "Main Event" Jey Uso. Entertaining match that saw Nakamura pick up the win. 8:15-8:25pm EST.
- Singles Match: King Woods w/ Kofi Kingston vs Ridge Holland w/ Sheamus & "the Butcherweight" Pete Dunne. Kofi was on the card to face Holland but instead Woods did. Holland did one strike, Woods rolled-up Holland, and the match was over in seconds. 8:48-8:48pm EST.
- Championship Contender's Singles Match: Ricochet vs Angel Garza w/ Humberto Carrillo. Angel Garza won in second after Humberto distracted, making himself the new number-one contender. Afterwards, Ricochet angrily challenged Humberto to a contender's match. 9:08-9:09pm EST.
- Championship Contender's Singles Match: Ricochet vs Humberto Carrillo w/ Angel Garza. Angel held Ricochet's foot from beneath the ring, unobserved by the ref, to help Angel win and also become a number one contender for Ricochet's title. Don't be fooled by the match length; the bulk of the 6.5 minutes was a commercial break. 9:11-9:18pm EST.
- Fatal 4-Way Singles Main Event Match: Sasha Banks vs Queen Zelina vs Rhea Ripley vs Shayna Baszler. Each woman was accompanied by their tag partner. Banks picked up the win by tapping out Zelina in the Bank Statement. 9:28-9:38pm EST.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
- Next Week on SmackDown: Intercontinental Championship Triple-Threat as Ricochet defends against both Los Lotharios.
- Rowdy Rousey: Rousey and Flair exchanged words via the tron, as Flair "dialed it in" remotely, and both women wasted time simply threatening to win next weekend. 8:52-9:00pm EST.
- Brock Party III: Our show-ending segment saw Universal Champion Roman Reigns come face-to-face with WWE Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar just nine nights ahead of their WrestleMania clash. Throughout the night, Lesnar awaited Roman Reigns in Reigns' dressing room. Lesnar even smashed a bit of it. After our main event match, Roman reigns finally arrived at the arena with twenty minutes left in our broadcast. Both competitors made their way to the ring, with Roman out at 9:47 and Brock out at 9:56pm. Roman only offered a few words prior to Lesnar's entrance; Lesnar promptly grabbed a chair and threatened the Tribal Chief with it as a mob of security attempted to keep them separate. Lesnar, ultimately, used the steel chair to beat the hell out of security and chased after Roman--chasing the entire Bloodline out of the arena. 9:47-9:58pm EST.
