FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood), who is known as arguably one of the greatest, if not the greatest tag team in the history of pro wrestling, recently appeared on the Battleground podcast to talk about a variety of topics such as one of the main reasons they left the WWE back in 2020. According to FTR, going to Japan and competing in NJPW was one of the reasons they left WWE in 2020 because they wanted to capture the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles.
Dax Harwood said:
“Before AEW became a thing, our idea was to finish up WWE, go to Japan, and we wanted to win the IWGP Tag Team Championships.” “… To be able to Internationally do what we’ve done here in the states is awesome too.”
Cash Wheeler added:
“… When we were making our decision on taking our career into our own hands a few years ago and leaving, like, New Japan was one of the reasons.” “We wanted to go and wrestle in New Japan. We wanted to win these titles.”
FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) is the reigning IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, the ROH World Tag Team Champions and the AAA Tag Team Champions. FTR successfully defended their ROH World Tag Team Championships against The Briscoes in a 2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match at ROH's Death Before Dishonor.
