As previously reported, last week's post-WWE Clash At The Castle WWE SmackDown saw former WWE RAW and SmackDown Women's Champion "The Baddest Woman On The Planet" Ronda Rousey defeat Xia Li, Lacey Evans, Natalya and Sonya Deville in a #1 Contender's Fatal 5-Way Elimination Matchup to become the brand-new #1 Contender to WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan. Ronda dominated the match by making all of her opponents submit and it was made official later on the broadcast that Liv Morgan will put her WWE SmackDown Women's Title on the line against Ronda Rousey at WWE's Extreme Rules Event.
Last night’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown saw Ronda Rousey take part in a sit-down interview with Kayla Braxton, but she was interrupted by WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan. Liv started by talking about her previous matches with Ronda and told Ronda that no matter what she says she will not respect Morgan, so she will have to do what she has done her entire career and that's to earn the respect of everyone. Morgan then challenged Ronda Rousey to add an Extreme Rules Match stipulation to their WWE SmackDown Women's Championship Match at WWE Extreme Rules. Rousey then responded to Liv and said it will be her funeral.
Liv Morgan won the WWE SmackDown Women's Title at the WWE's Money In The Bank Premium Live Event last July 2nd and since then she has retained her title over Ronda Rousey at WWE SummerSlam last July 30th and Shayna Baszler at WWE Clash At The Castle.
WWE Extreme Rules is set to take place on Saturday, October 8th from inside the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
