Last night's Fight For The Fallen AEW Dynamite saw Interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley successfully defend his Interim AEW World Title against RUSH, who earned his opportunity be defeating his brother, Dragon Lee in a Singles Match at the ROH Death Before Dishonor PPV Event. Immediately after the match on last night's Fight For The Fallen episode of AEW Dynamite, Chris Jericho made his way out with the rest of the Jericho Appreciation Society and challenged long-time rival Jon Moxley to a match for his Interim AEW World Championship on the Quake By The Lake special edition of AEW Dynamite.
Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho feuded over the AEW World Championship in early 2020 and that was a feud that saw The Inner Circle annihilate Jon Moxley for weeks leading into the 2020 Revolution PPV, where Moxley would overcome Jericho and The Inner Circle to win the AEW World Title for the first time. The Interim AEW World Championship Matchup between Moxley and Jericho on the Quake By The Lake special is the first match made official for the show.
