IMPACT Wrestling On AXS TV Recap (05/12): Gauntlet For Gold

IMPACT Wrestling recently held the latest episode of their flagship show, where the show's main event saw a Gauntlet For Gold Matchup take place, in which the winner will challenge Josh Alexander for his IMPACT World Title at Slammiversary.

- IMPACT X-Division Champion Ace Austin def. Aiden Prince in a Before The IMPACT Match.

- Commentary welcome us to tonight’s show and talk about the return of the Gauntlet For Gold Matchup, which will determine Josh Alexander’s new challenger for the IMPACT World Title at Slammiversary, but they were interrupted by Honor No More and the action gets started.

- Kenny King def. Chris Bey in an Ultimate X Qualifying Match.

- The Influence (Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood) (c) def. Gisele Shaw and Alisha to retain their IMPACT Knockouts World Tag Team Championships.

- Violent By Design then cuts a promo, where they said that they will regain the power and control next week when they get their rematch against IMPACT World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes for the IMPACT World Tag Team Championships. Eric Young then says he will win tonight’s Gauntlet for Gold.

- IMPACT Wrestling Hall of Famer Gail Kim then announces the first-ever Queen of the Mountain Matchup for the IMPACT Knockouts World Title at Slammiversary. IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Tasha Steelz will defend her title against Chelsea Green, Jordynne Grace, Deonna Purrazzo and a final competitor, but before she could be named, IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Tasha Steelz interrupts. Steelz said that Gail Kim is doing everything in her power to get her to lose the IMPACT Knockouts World Title. Steelz then says that Savannah Evans will be in the match, but Gail Kim turns her down and says that all of her challengers will be former IMPACT Knockouts World Champions and the final competitor is Mia Yim. Tasha Steelz and Savannah Evans then start to approach Kim when Mia Yim makes the save. Mia Yim is then blindsided by Deonna Purrazzo, but AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Tasha Steelz and Jordynne Grace even the odds.

- Rich Swann says during a backstage interview that he is willing to fight all night long in order to win Gauntlet For Gold.

- IMPACT World Champion Josh Alexander and Tomohiro Ishii def. Bullet Club (Jay White and El Phantasmo).

- New IMPACT World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes then say that they found out Violent By Design is sending Joe Doering to compete in their IMPACT World Tag Team Title rematch next week but they’re not scared of anyone.

- Eric Young wins Gauntlet For Gold and will challenge Josh Alexander for the IMPACT World Title at Slammiversary.
