IMPACT ON AXS RESULTS (8/19/2021)

The BTI match wraps up with Tasha Steelz picking up a victory in one-on-one against Havoc of the IMPACT Knockouts Tag-Team Champions.

From there, this week's IMPACT On AXS go-home show ahead of Friday's IMPACT Emergence special event kicks off with a special video recap of the events that led up to Christian Cage defeating Kenny Omega to capture the IMPACT Championship.

Sami Callihan Makes Save For Eddie Edwards In Impromptu W. Morrissey Brawl

We then shoot inside the IMPACT Zone where Josh Matthews and Gia Miller are standing in the ring to welcome us to this week's show. They immediately bring up Christian Cage becoming the new IMPACT Champion on the debut episode of AEW Rampage.

As the two continue to talk, in the background at the top of the entrance ramp we see W. Morrissey throwing Eddie Edwards down and beating on him. They brawl down to ringside where Edwards gets in some offense as fans chant his name, however Morrissey knocks him senseless with a big boot to the face.

He rolls him in the ring and hits a follow-up splash in the corner. He goes to hoist him up for his finisher when out comes Sami Callihan. He attacks Morrissey from behind. Morrissey starts to recover and then as Callihan has a baseball bat, he and Edwards both end up with a hand on it. They look at each other as the crowd 'oohs' and 'ahhs' acknowledging their past bat incident.

Eventually they knock Morrissey out of the ring. We see Callihan and Edwards staring each other down and Edwards is overheard saying he didn't ask for that help. He exits the ring. Callihan gets on the mic and says Edwards can thank him later. He then brings up his match scheduled for tonight. He says he doesn't want to wait and says to get them out here and get the show started.

Chris Sabin & Sami Callihan vs. Ace Austin & Moose

On that note, the weekly signature opening video airs to officially start this week's show. After it wraps up, Chris Sabin's theme hits and out he comes to join Callihan in the ring for this opening tag-team contest.

Now as he settles into the squared circle his music dies down. Ace Austin's theme hits and out he comes accompanied by Madman Fulton. The two settle in the ring and their music dies down.

Moose's theme hits and the fans chant his name inside the IMPACT Zone as he makes his way down to the ring. The big man settles in the ring and then his music cuts off. The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with our first advertised bout of the evening.

Callihan and Austin are kicking things off inside the ring for their respective teams. Callihan takes Austin down right off the bat. He pops back up. They lock up and Austin takes him down. Now the intensity and pace of the action picks up, with Callihan pulling ahead into the offensive lead.

We see Callihan ground Austin and quiet the crowd down before landing a loud kick to his back. Sabin hops on the bottom rope from his spot on the ring apron and shouts out that he can do better. Callihan tags him in. Sabin hits the same kick to the back of a seated Austin and he delivered as promised.

The action continues with Edwards picking up where Callihan left off, taking it to Austin while Moose watches on from the opposing corner. The action spills out to the floor as we head to a mid-match commercial break.

As we settle back in from the break, we see Moose taking it to Sabin. He pops out to the floor and quiets down the crowd before blasting him with a chop that echos throughout the IMPACT Zone. The fans chant "One more time!" and the big man goes to oblige but instead decides to rake Sabin's eyes instead before taunting the crowd.

Afterwards, Sabin fires away at Moose with punches and then Madman Fulton hits a big super kick on the floor to slow down his momentum. Moose takes back over and brings the action back in the ring, where he tags Austin back in. Austin picks up where Moose left off, taking it to Sabin as the heel duo are comfortably in the offensive lead at this point in the contest.

This lasts for a while until finally Sabin makes the much-needed tag to Callihan. Sami takes the hot tag and enters the ring, completely taking over the match and dominating the action. He goes for his piledriver on Austin but Moose interferes. He handles him and then goes for the piledriver again but this time Sabin tags himself in before he can hit it. He hits his cradle shock and scores the pin fall victory.

Winners: Sami Callihan & Chris Sabin

After The Match: Sami Callihan Attacks Chris Sabin

Once the match wraps up, D'Lo Brown and Matt Striker run through some highlights and then we see back live in the ring, Callihan attack Sabin and hit the spiked piledriver that he promised the crowd twice only to not be able to deliver. His theme hits and he plays to the fans before heading to the back.

The Good Brothers Talk NJPW Resurgence, Joe Doering & Emergence

We see highlights of The Good Brothers at the NJPW Resurgence show causing havoc with an attack of Jon Moxley and others before being confronted themselves. We then return live and The Good Brothers brag and boast about beating up Jon Moxley and Yuji Nagata.

They then bring up Guerillas of Destiny getting in their faces afterwards, before moving on to tonight where Gallows goes one-on-one against Joe Doering, and tomorrow night where they defend their titles in the triple-threat main event of Emergence. After this we head to another commercial break.

Eddie Edwards Confronts Sami Callihan

We return from the break to a backstage promo from Sami Callihan. He talks about Chris Sabin being fair game as soon as the bell rang to end their match earlier tonight. He then brings up the number one contender match at Emergence. He continues to talk but then in comes Eddie Edwards. Edwards assures Callihan that they aren't friends and he doesn't need his help. Callihan walks off.

Shera vs. Matt Cardona

Now we head back inside the IMPACT Zone where Rohit Raju brings out the big man, Shera. They head to the ring for our next match of the evening.

As they settle into the ring, out comes Shera's opponent for this singles contest -- Matt Cardona. He comes out accompanied by Chelsea Green and they head to the ring.

The commentators talk about Cardona-Rohit tomorrow night at Emergence but how first he must battle the giant Shera here tonight. The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with this one.

Early on we hear Striker and Brown talk about the deceptive size and strength of Cardona, noting he doesn't look small at all next to the big Shera. Early on we see Cardona handling Shera fairly easy.

Raju gets involved in a distraction spot, which allows Shera to take over control of the action. As he does, the commentators talk us into a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.

We're back from the break and we see Shera is still handling Cardona with ease in the ring. While he continues to dominate the action, the fans chant for Cardona. We see Raju distract the ref and end up in a verbal shouting match with Green at ringside. Shera took this opportunity to blatantly choke Cardona.

Finally, Cardona capitalizes on the first opening he finds in Shera's attack. He hits a big missile dropkick and then some clotheslines to Shera in the corner. Shera fires up out of nowhere and hits a big spot on Cardona for a near fall. Cardona fights back and looks for the Re-Boot.

Instead, Green and Rohit get into it again. Green yanks Rohit off the apron and then Cardona hit Radio Silence off the top-rope on Shera for the win.

Winner: Matt Cardona

The fans break out in a "You deserve it!" chant. He thanks them and then talks about how his IMPACT history is nice but this might not be about his history anymore. He says everyone agrees after talking with IMPACT executives. He says maybe it's time to set the TNA Championship aside and leave just the IMPACT Championship as the sole world title in the company. He hands the belt off and the fans chant "TNA!"

Brian Myers Confronts Christian Cage Ahead Of Emergence

He says now as the IMPACT Champion it's time to get down to a little bit of business. As he continues to talk, he is interrupted by the entrance music of the man who won the battle royal to become the number one contender to the IMPACT Championship -- Brian Myers.

Myers makes his way out accompanied by Sam Beale. Myers talks about this feeling nostalgic. He asks if Team 3D or Shark Boy is in the back. He and Beale then settle in the ring and he says it's time to quit talking about and living in the past. He talks about being the best in IMPACT for the past year in the ring, on the mic, in backstage segments, on social media and how he even has the best podcast.

Cage tells Myers it's good to see he finally showed his face out of Matt Cardona's shadow. He goes on to put over Myers for finally being a man but then holds his IMPACT Championship up and telling him that although he won a battle royal, he hasn't really won anything yet. Myers pretends to leave and tries to cheap shot him, however Cage was prepared and decks him instead. Myers and Beale head to the back. We return from the break to a pair of ads for NWA EmPowerrr and NWA 73. From there we see highlights from last Friday at AAA TripleMania where Deonna Purrazzo picked up a big win.

Melina vs. Brandi Lauren

From there we shoot back inside the IMPACT Zone where Melina's theme hits and out she comes as she heads to the ring to make her in-ring IMPACT Wrestling debut in the Knockouts division.

Already in the ring is her opponent, Brandi Lauren, who is introduced. The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with this match. The commentators talk about Lauren working under a different name in IMPACT in the past.

Early on we see Melina taking it to Lauren but then Lauren kills her momentum and gets in a little offense of her own. This doesn't last long, however, as Melina fires up and hits a series of moves as the fans in the IMPACT Zone cheer her on.

Melina does the Matrix backwards thing and moments later has Lauren on the mat, where she locks in and secures a submission, which forces Lauren to tap out. Melina picks up the victory in her IMPACT debut.

Kaleb With A K vs. Jake Something

We return from the break and we hear Jake Something's theme hit as he makes his way down to the ring. Kaleb With A K, his opponent for this No Disqualification match made by Scott D'Amore earlier tonight, is already in the ring.

The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with the match on this card that holds the distinction for the most awkward names. The fans immediately break out in "Jake is gonna kill you!" chants and as they predict, Something goes on to kick With A K's butt from one side of the ring to the other.

Kaleb With A K is wearing his neck brace, but it's not stopping Something from wringing his neck and rag-dolling him. He hits a big Vader splash type of move, as D'Lo calls it, before retrieving a table from under the ring, which he sets up in the corner and spears Kaleb through. He then scores the pin fall victory.

Winner: Jake Something

Josh Alexander & Jake Something Face Off Ahead Of Emergence

Once the match wraps up, the theme for X-Division Champion Josh Alexander hits. He makes his way down to the ring and gets in Jake Something's face. They go nose-to-nose as Alexander holds his title up high and the fans chant "Walking Weapon!" The commentators hype their X-Division title showdown at Emergence tomorrow night and then we head to a commercial break.

Joe Doering vs. Doc Gallows

When we return from the break, D'Lo Brown and Matt Striker run down the lineup for tomorrow night's IMPACT Emergence special event on IMPACT Plus.

From there, we head back inside the IMPACT Zone where Joe Doering of the Violent by Design faction makes his way down to the ring for tonight's main event.

As he settles into the squared circle for our final bout of the evening, his theme dies down. The entrance music for The Good Brothers hits and out they come as Doc Gallows prepares for one-on-one action in our featured attraction of the evening.

The fans do the "Too Sweet -- woop woop!" chant as Gallows and Anderson settle down at the ringside area. Gallows heads inside the ring and goes nose-to-nose with fellow big man Doering.

We hear the bell sound and we're off-and-running with the headline contest of the IMPACT Emergence go-home edition of IMPACT On AXS TV. We see some back-and-forth action and then after about a minute, we jump right into a mid-match commercial break.

When we return from the break, we see Gallows hitting a flying shoulder block off the ropes for a near fall. The commentators talk about it being back-and-forth throughout the break. Gallows looks to be jumping into the lead and then Doering cuts him off and decks him.

It looks like Doering is about to take over but Gallows avoids a clothesline and goes on the offensive again on Doering. Doering cuts his offensive run short but taking it to Gallows again. Now he hoists Gallows up for a stalled vertical suplex. Impressive display of strength by Doering.

Gallows rolls out to the floor to recover afterwards. The commentators talk about how he needs to look out because VBD is at ringside. Doering heads out after him and the two trade shots at ringside as the crowd reacts. Gallows blasts Doering with a steel chair. Both guys roll back into the ring and we see VBD and Anderson watching on from opposing sides of the ring.

Now Gallows and Doering both return to a vertical base and then collide into each other. They each roll out to opposing sides of the floor. The two trade shots up the entrance ramp and then Gallows hits a Sky High sit-down slam that puts Doering and himself through the floor of the entrance stage. The fans chant "That was awesome!" as multiple camera angle replays are shown.

Several officials attend to both Doering and Gallows as neither man are moving yet. The commentators are talking with their serious voices. Scott D'Amore comes out to check out the scene and we see several more replays of the stage crumbling under the force of Gallows Sky High slam on Doering.

The two are being helped out but Gallows shoves away the help and crawls towards the ring. Doering starts to stir and he too pushes away those trying to help him. It looks like against all odds, this fight is going to somehow continue. Striker goes bonkers on commentary as he realizes these two aren't done yet.

Doering stumbles to the ring like a pissed off mummy, and even Gallows backs up like Deontay Wilder seeing Tyson Fury pop up at a referee count of eight or nine following a 12th round knockdown. Doering hits a mile high off the top rope and collides onto fellow big man Gallows. He throws an arm over him and gets the pin. Both men are lifeless after the match. The commentators hype tomorrow night's Emergence and then show some highlights of this main event before this week's show goes off the air. Thanks for joining us!

Winner: Joe Doering
