IMPACT WRESTLING HOMECOMING RESULTS (7/31/2021)

The cold open video package airs to get us started and then we head inside the Impact Zone for the special event streaming live on IMPACT Plus.

IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen Tournament
Hernandez & Alisha Edwards vs. Deonna Purrazzo & Matthew Rehwoldt

We head to the ring for our first match in the IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen Mixed Tag-Team Tournament, as the Swinger's Palace duo of Alisha Edwards and Hernandez make their way down to the ring.

They settle into the ring and then out comes "The Virtuosa" herself, Deonna Purrazzo. She emerges and then introduces her surprise partner for tonight -- the one and only Matthew Rehwoldt!

"The Drama King" arrives in the IMPACT Zone and heads down to the ring to a nice reaction from the crowd in attendance. All four competitors are now in the squared circle and the bell sounds to get our first match of the evening off-and-running.

Some back-and-forth action starts things off and then we see the Swinger's Palace duo pull ahead as Hernandez starts to take it to Rehwoldt. Alisha wants some and she tags in and starts blasting him with some kicks. He face-plants her on the mat and tags Purrazzo in.

Rehwoldt slams Edwards down and then Purrazzo hits a follow-up shot for a near fall attempt. Alisha hangs on and the action continues with "The Virtuosa" fighting in control while the fans try to rally Edwards back into the fight. She eventually fires up and hits a big splash on the floor, but when all is said and done, "The Drama King" helps "The Virtuosa" pick up the win and advance to the semifinals of the tournament.

Winners and ADVANCING in the tournament: Deonna Purrazzo & Matthew Rehwoldt

IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen Tournament
Petey Williams & Jordynne Grace vs. Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green

We shoot to the commentary duo of Matt Striker and D'Lo Brown, who react to the opener and then run down some action still to come tonight before sending us back to the ring, where the team of Petey Williams and Jordynne Grace make their way out and down to the ring.

From there, the music of Matt Cardona hits and out he comes. He makes his way out and then the theme for his partner hits and out comes Chelsea Green. The two settle in the ring and the music dies down.

We hear the bell and our next opening round match in the tournament is underway. Cardona and Williams kick things off for their respective teams. The action is back-and-forth early on, but then Cardona starts to pull ahead. We see a mean neckbreaker out on the floor.

Back in the ring. Green tags in and gets in some quick offense on Williams before tagging Cardona back in. Cardona picks up where she left off, decking Williams with a big boot and slapping a rear chin lock on him as he controls him on the mat.

As the action continues, Williams finally fights back into competitive form. Eventually the ladies tag in and we see Green fire up and take it to Grace. After all four end up in the ring for a big spot, Williams and Green are left alone. Williams looks to hit the Canadian Destroyer. Grace hooks Cardona for the same side-by-side but their opposition each escapes.

Williams and Grace cut their attempted come back short and they end up in side-by-side double Steiner Recliner submissions with Cardona and Green screaming in pain as the fans chant "Tap! Tap! Tap!" They ultimately escape and the battle resumes. Green ends up hitting Unprettier moments later and scoring the pin. With the win she and Cardona advance to the next round to face off against Purrazzo and Rehwoldt.

Winners and ADVANCING in the tournament: Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green

After The Match: Steve Maclin Attacks Petey Williams

After the match we see Steve Maclin hit the ring and attack Petey Williams. The commentators reference their rivalry and recent showdown on Before The Impact as Maclin beats down an already weakened Williams. He hits his finisher on him and talks trash in his face, leaving him laying.

W. Morrissey With One Final Message For Eddie Edwards

After the post-match beatdown involving Maclin and Williams, we shoot backstage where W. Morrissey talks to the camera. He delivers one final message to his opponent for tonight's street fight, vowing to expose Eddie Edwards as a coward and beat him down in front of his own people.

IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen Tournament
Tommy Dreamer & Rachael Ellering vs. Brian Myers & Missy Hyatt

Now the music hits to bring out our next team in the Homecoming tournament, the duo of Tommy Dreamer and Rachel Ellering. The two make their way out with Road Warrior style face paint on and settle in the ring.

The music for Brian Myers hits and out he comes with Sam Beale. The duo hop on the mic and Beale reveals the partner he found for Myers. After a long intro, finally out comes "The Walking Riot" Missy Hyatt.

Hyatt gets in the ring and says she's not a wrestler. We have some confusion! She takes her shoes off and it looks like she's gonna be wrestling even though it appears Beale never informed her that she would be doing so.

We hear the bell and this match is off-and-running. After some early action with the guys, Hyatt is tagged in. She is hesitant but enters the ring. She doesn't hang in long, however, and back in comes Myers. In a funny spot, when she exits, the fans chant "She's still got it!" even though she essentially did nothing. Striker and D'Lo crack up on commentary at that.

Ellering takes it to Myers and then Dreamer works his arm over before bringing her back in to focus some more on the arm. Finally, some interference from Beale at ringside helps Myers take over the action and dominate Dreamer in the ring. Ellering goes over and kicks Beale for his efforts.

The fans chant "We want Missy!" as Myers continues to work Dreamer over. Myers stalks Dreamer in the corner but then walks right into a big DDT from "The Innovator of Violence." Myers recovers and crawls to his corner, attempting to make the tag, but Hyatt refuses and hops off the apron. She walks to the back. Back in the ring, we see Dreamer and Ellering hit a Doomsday Device for the win to advance.

Winners and ADVANCING in the tournament: Tommy Dreamer & Rachael Ellering

IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen Tournament
Rosemary & Crazzy Steve vs. Fallah Bahh & Tasha Steelz

After a backstage promo segment featuring Eric Young and Violent By Design, we head back into the Impact Zone where the lights go out. When they come back on, the team of Rosemary and Crazzy Steve head to the ring for our next tournament match.

The Decay duo settles into the squared circle and their music dies down. Now the theme for their opponents hits and out comes the duo of Fallah & Flava -- Fallah Bahh and Tasha Steelz.

We hear the bell and it will be Bahh and Steve starting things off for their respective teams. The fans chant for Crazzy Steve and then Bahh silences the crowd and leads them in a chant of his name. We hear Rosemary scream like a psycho from her corner of the ring and finally the action gets underway.

We're off-and-running as Bahh and Steve circle each other and lock-up. Bahh shoves Steve into the corner and then the fans break out in a "Bite his face off!" chant. They go at it some more and then sure enough, Steve bites the hell out of Bahh's face. The fans dug that and broke out in some more chants.

Bahh tags out now and in comes Steelz. Steelz gets in Steve's face and the fans chant "Bite her face off!" D'Lo on commentary says it's great to have the fans back. Steve thinks for a moment and then yells out, "She can!" and he tags in Rosemary. The fans chant "Bite her face off!" as Rosemary circles around Steelz.

Steelz tags back out and in comes Bahh. He and Rosemary get in a "No! No! No!" and "Yes!" shouting match before they go at it. Bahh tries to avoid doing anything but ends up having to slam her down. He then tags in Flava, who picks up where he left off, taking it to her larger foe. After some more comedy spots with Bahh and Rosemary we see the Decay duo pick up the win via pin fall after a flying DDT.

Winners and ADVANCING in the tournament: Rosemary & Crazzy Steve

Steve Maclin Has A New Target

We shoot backstage after the match and we get a word from Steve Maclin. He talks about his attack of Petey Williams earlier in the show and reveals that he's done with him and now he has his sights set on a different target.

Willie Mack vs. Deaner

Out comes Willie Mack with Rich Swann by his side as he heads to the ring for our next match of the evening here at IMPACT Homecoming.

He settles in the ring and now the Violent By Design theme hits and out comes the Eric Young-led faction, as Deaner prepares to go one-on-one against Mack.

The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with this singles match. Mack takes it to Deaner straight out of the gate, showcasing a more aggressive than usual style, as the commentators point out.

Mack dominates for a few moments and then Deaner takes a moment to regroup with his fellow VBD members, who are all out at ringside for this match. He heads back in the ring.

As the action continues, a quick distraction from VBD at ringside appears to help Deaner take over, however Mack cuts his comeback attempt short and continues to dominate the action.

Deaner ends up turning the tide after a minute or two, smashing Mack in the middle turnbuckle in the corner and firing away at him with punches on the mat in front of his VBD partners. He slides out to the floor and slams his head down on the ring apron repeatedly before blasting him with a running knee to the chin.

He rolls back in the ring and goes for the cover as Mack's eyes were rolling in his head, however Mack still manages to kick out. He starts fighting back but Deaner throws him out to the floor, essentially to the wolves in VBD. Rich Swann runs over and makes sure no one else gets involved, however, and Deaner brings Mack back in the ring.

We see Deaner head to the top-rope but Mack catches him coming down and launches him with an exploder suplex. The fans loudly chant "WIllie! Willie!" as he recovers and gets back to his feet. Now he fires up and starts taking it to Deaner. He hits the smiley slam and a jumping leg drop. He hits a Samoan drop and nips up to hit a standing moonsault for a near fall.

After another fired up comeback we see several close finishes from both guys, prompting Striker and Brown to agree on commentary that this match has stolen the show thus far. Finally, Eric Young interferes, providing the assist for Deaner to score the pin on Mack.

Winner: Deaner

IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen Tournament (Semifinals)
Deonna Purrazzo & Matthew Rehwoldt vs. Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green

We shoot backstage where Gia Miller is standing by with Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green. She asks them about their upcoming second round match in tonight's tournament against "The Drama King" and "The Virtuosa." Cardona says they do everything together and are undefeated as a team. They claim they are the team to beat.

Now we head back out inside the Impact Zone where the theme hits to bring out "The Virtuosa" and Deonna Purrazzo makes her way to the ring. The fans chant her name and then her music dies down. The music hits to bring out Matthew Rehwoldt and he makes his way to the ring as the fans chant "Drama King!"

They settle into the ring together and Matt Cardona's theme hits. He comes out and stops half way down the ramp. He is joined by his partner Chelsea Green and the two head to the ring. They share a pre-match kiss and it will be Green and Purrazzo kicking things off for their respective teams.

The bell sounds to get this one off-and-running. Green extends her hand to Purrazzo as a sign of friendship. Purrazzo kicks it away and shakes her finger at her. She talks to the crowd and Green tries rolling her up from behind. "The Virtuosa" kicks out and now these two start mixing it up.

We see the fellas tag in and early on Cardona is faring well. He hits a slide dropkick that takes out Rehwoldt on the floor and also partially hits Purrazzo. She asks what he's thinking and if he's trying to hit her and then Green slides through with a clearly purposeful kick to the dome of "The Virtuosa" that lights the crowd up.

Back in the ring, Rehwoldt starts to take it to Cardona, beginning a prolonged run of offensive domination, which includes Purrazzo in spurts. Finally, they finish them off and pick up the win to advance in the tournament to the finals, where they are one win away from being crowned IMPACT Homecoming King and Queen for 2021.

Winners and ADVANCING in the tournament: Deonna Purrazzo & Matthew Rehwoldt

Missy Hyatt Puts Brian Myers & Sam Beale In Their Place

We shoot backstage where Gia Miller is standing by with women's wrestling legend Missy Hyatt. She asks about her IMPACT Wrestling debut when in walks Brian Myers complaining about her not knowing any holds or moves.

She says if he knew anything he'd know she was never a wrestler. She names ones she did manage and says they all had something Myers doesn't -- originality.

She convinces Beale to take his glasses off and slaps him down to the ground. She calls him a mark and heads off.

IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen Tournament (Semifinals)
Rosemary & Crazzy Steve vs. Tommy Dreamer & Rachael Ellering

We head back inside the IMPACT Zone where the Decay duo of Rosemary and Crazzy Steve head down to the ring for our next semifinal showdown in the IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen tournament.

The duo settles in the ring and then the theme hits to bring out their opponents in this tourney showdown -- the team of Tommy Dreamer and Rachael Ellering.

Bell sounds and we are off-and-running with our second semifinal bout in the mixed tag-team tourney. Rosemary licks her hand and extends it to Rachael. Rachael shrugs her shoulders, licks her hand and extends it back. They shake hands and start mixing it up.

Ellering gets the better of Rosemary in the early action to the point that she's had enough and she tags out. Crazzy Steve heads in the ring as fans chant his name. Ellering tags out before anything happens. Dreamer heads in the ring and now fans chant his name and then break out into dueling chants for he and Crazzy Steve.

Dreamer works Steve over and establishes the offensive lead. Rosemary tags back in. She acts crazy and gets in Dreamer's face. The fans chant "Bite his face off!" Dreamer bites her finger. Stevve comes in and Rachael as well and now all four are biting each other at the same time. Striker calls it a "Tetnus River." The fans chant "This is awesome!"

Rosemary and Ellering settle into the ring as the legal members of their teams and Ellering starts to dominate the Decay member. She tags Tommy back in and they hit a double clothesline on her. Dreamer drops an elbow on her and then tags Ellering back in. Ellering goes back to work on her in the corner but then she turns the tables and hits Sling Blade to kill Ellering's momentum.

Rosemary tags in Stevve, who immediately tries to cover Ellering. She kicks out and he slaps a rear chin lock on her as the fans try to rally behind her. It works until he bites her fingers and tags Rosemary back in. Rosemary gets in a free shot as he holds Ellering and now she is dominating the action, taking it to Ellering.

All four end up in the ring. Dreamer hits Rosemary with his move after she yells in his face to do it, but then Crazzy Steve hits the ring and starts working over Dreamer. He ends up finishing him off and scoring to the pin to advance. It will be Rosemary & Crazzy Steve taking on Deonna Purrazzo & Matthew Rehwoldt in the IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen Finals later on.

Winners and ADVANCING in the tournament: Rosemary & Crazzy Steve

Eddie Edwards With One Final Message For W. Morrissey

We head backstage where Gia Miller is standing by with Eddie Edwards. She asks him about his Street Fight tonight with W. Morrissey. He says Morrissey should have it all but doesn't. He says he's gonna take it to him tonight and is handed a kendo stick before vowing to end him.

X-Division Championship
Black Taurus vs. Josh Alexander (C)

We then head back inside the IMPACT Zone where the theme hits to bring out Black Taurus. He makes his way down to the ring and settles in as his music fades down.

Now the theme hits to bring out the defending champion, as the X-title holder Josh Alexander heads down to the ring with his trademark head gear on. He settles inside the squared circle and his music cuts off.

The bell sounds and we are off-and-running with this championship contest. The fans immediately break out in "Both these guys!" chants as they mix it up early on. Taurus over-powers and knocks down Alexander multiple times but now Alexander uses his submission and grappling skills to fight back into competitive form.

"This is wrestling!" chants break out during a quick break in the action. Taurus blasts Alexander with a big shot but the champ fights back and lands a big kick that decks the challenger. Now he goes to work with offense on the mat as he pulls ahead further into the lead.

Black Taurus blasts Alexander with a huge shot that leads to speculation from the commentators that he is momentarily knocked silly. He starts to show signs of life but again Taurus takes over and continues to take it to the champion.

Alexander looks to be firing up for a comeback but then Taurus sends Alexander out to the floor. He then hits the ropes and goes sailing through the ropes, spinning and splashing onto Alexander. The fans break out in a loud "X-Division!" chant.

Finally the champ does fight back into competitive form. He fires up for a big comeback and starts taking it to the challenger as the fans in the IMPACT Zone come alive for the 100th time in what is turning out to be an excellent match. Alexander hits three big spots in a row on Taurus and then heads to the top-rope, executing a picture-perfect moonsault for a close near fall.

Taurus fires up and now he is the one making an offensive comeback. He gets a big high flying spot for a near fall but Alexander takes back over. He gets an ankle lock but Taurus escapes and catches Alexander with a sling blade for a near fall. They head to the top rope. Alexander gets Taurus over his shoulders in a fireman's carry / Samoan drop position and then he jumps off the top, flipping in mid air and slamming him down and rolling over.

The fans loudly chant "This is awesome!" Both guys exchange shots as they work up from their knees back to their feet. We see a big headbutt and now Taurus is wildly taking it to Alexander as the noise in the IMPACT Zone picks up. Alexander won't stay down, as he fights back and hits a nasty backbreaker. He hits his finisher after that and scores the pin fall victory to retain his X-Division Championship in another match of the night candidate.

Winner and STILL X-Division Champion: Josh Alexander

IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen Tournament (Finals)
Deonna Purrazzo & Matthew Rehwoldt vs. Rosemary & Crazzy Steve

We shoot backstage after the X-Division Championship match where Gia Miller is standing by with Deonna Purrazzo and Matthew Rehwoldt. They predict victory in the IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen Tournament Finals -- which is up next.

On that note, we head back inside the IMPACT Zone where the theme hits to bring out "The Virtuosa" and then "The Drama King." Purrazzo and Rehwoldt settle into the ring and then Rehwoldt's music dies down, as do the fans' "Drama King!" chants in his honor.

Now the theme hits for our other finalists in the 2021 IMPACT Homecoming King & Queen Tournament -- as out comes the Decay duo of Rosemary and Crazzy Steve. They settle in the ring after a lengthy entrance and then their music fades off.

The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with our tournament finals. Steve and Rehwoldt kick things off for their respective teams. They circle each other and then the fans break out into a "Bite his face off!" chant. Rehwoldt drops to his knees and shouts at Steve, trying to get into his head.

Finally, the action gets going as Steve twists the arm of Rehwoldt. The fans chant "Bite his ear off!" and then Rehwoldt reverses the hold, isolating the arm of Steve. Steve trips Rehwoldt down to the mat and bites his ear as the fans erupt and then chant his name "Crazzy Steve!" as he continues to go to work on "The Drama King."

We see Rosemary tag in and the fans chant for her to bite Rehwoldt, so she does bite his arm. Things continue to escalate and then Purrazzo tags in and she begins a prolonged beatdown of Rosemary which wraps up with the finish, which sees Rehwoldt and Steve on the outside of the ring as "The Virtuosa" finishes off Rosemary in the ring for the victory.

With the win, Deonna Purrazzo and Matthew Rehwoldt are crowned the 2021 IMPACT Wrestling Homecoming King and Queen. After the match, Gia Miller enters the ring to present them with their crowns. They put them on and bow to wrap up their tournament victory celebration in the ring.

Winners and 2021 IMPACT Wrestling Homecoming King & Queen: Deonna Purrazzo & Matthew Rehwoldt

Hardcore Match
W. Morrissey vs. Eddie Edwards

We shoot to the commentary duo of Matt Striker and D'Lo Brown after the tournament finals wraps up, and they mention things aren't over yet.

On that note, they send things to the pre-match video package for our main event of the evening here at this IMPACT Plus special event. We see an elaborate package detailing the storied history between W. Morrissey and Eddie Edwards.

After the video wraps up, we shoot back inside the IMPACT Zone where W. Morrissey's theme hits and he makes his way down to the ring for our featured attraction of the show.

As he settles in the ring, his music fades down and then the theme hits to bring out his opponent, the longtime IMPACT Wrestling veteran Eddie Edwards. The IMPACT Zone gives Edwards a big reaction coming out and then chants his name as he heads down to the squared circle.

The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with our Hardcore Match main event of the evening. Fans continue singing the theme song of Edwards as the two get ready for battle. Finally they get after it and we immediately see some trash can lid shots in the mix.

Morrissey takes it to Edwards early on and the brawl spills out to the floor at ringside. Morrissey continues to dominate the action and then the match resumes back inside the ring where Edwards gets the upper hand. He heads out to the floor and quiets the crowd down as he pulls a table out from under the ring.

Fans chant "We want tables!" as he sets the table up at ringside near the ring post on the floor. He heads under the ring again and pulls out a trash can. He raises it and the fans pop and then he walks around the ring, right into a big boot from Morrissey, which slams the trash can into his own face.

W. Morrissey hits Edwards with a few more shots and sends him into the ring. Now he goes under the ring and pulls out some goodies, such as a cookie sheet, another trash can and a steel chain. He puts them in the ring and heads back in after Edwards. He grabs the steel chain and in Roddy Piper vs. Greg Valentine Starrcade fashion, wraps it around Edwards' face and ears before yanking it as tight as he can.

As the action continues, Morrissey works Edwards over with ease for several minutes, beating him with weapons all-the-while. He stacks all the trash can lids and chairs and foreign objects into a pile and sets Edwards on the top rope. He heads up after him but Edwards fights back and flips over his head, power-bombing Morrissey down onto all of the weapons. He goes for the cover afterwards but Morrissey manages to kick out at the count of two.

Eddie builds up a head of steam and sails through the ropes, but Morrissey catches him with his hand on his throat as he hits the floor outside the ring. He fires away at him as the two battle up to the top of the entrance way. Eddie runs all the way down to ringside after Morrissey, but the big man uses Eddie's own momentum to hoist him up and turn him around, slamming him violently on the hard corner of the ring apron.

Morrissey then pulls the steel ring steps over towards Edwards and smashes him face-first into them. He then rolls him back in the ring. He reaches under the ring and pulls out a ladder as fans chant Eddie's name to try and rally him back into the contest. Morrissey sets the ladder up like a bridge across the ring apron and steel steps he moved over near the entrance aisle. He reaches under the ring for something else but Edwards dives through the ropes and blasts him with a forearm.

Edwards tells the fans that he's just getting started. He brings Morrissey back in the ring and his wife tells him to finish this. He takes a kendo stick into the ring with intentions of doing exactly that, only for Morrissey to blast him with a running boot that launches him out of the ring and through the table set up at ringside earlier in the match. A replay shows Edwards' head also banged off the steel ring barricade on the way down.

The two fight back-and-forth at ringside and then Morrissey grabs Edwards by the throat and hoists him up. He chokeslams him down with authority onto the ladder bridge he set up earlier. It doesn't break, and actually barely bends, which made it look that much more painful. Morrissey grabs a table from under the ring and he brings this one into the ring and leans it up long-ways in the corner against the turnbuckles. The fans actually chant "No more tables!" (even though this is only the second one).

Morrissey heads back out after Edwards and bashes him a few times with a trash can lid for good measure and then rolls him back into the ring as fans chant "You still suck!" at him. Morrissey holds up and shows the camera a zip-tie that he has now. He heads into the ring and zip-ties Edwards' hands together. He then exits the ring and reaches under it, where he pulls out another kendo stick. He goes back in the ring and bashes Eddie with the kendo stick a few times.

Eddie then fires up out of nowhere and charges at him, ramming his own body into Morrissey and putting him through the table leaned up against the turnbuckles in the corner of the ring. He then fires up even more as the fans chant his name. He breaks the zip-tie that has his hands cuffed together. He grabs a kendo stick and beats the crap out of Morrissey with it. He grabs the steel chain that Morrissey brought into the match earlier. He wraps it around his knee and uses it to hit him with his Boston Knee Party.

He covers him and scores the pin fall victory, winning the Hardcore Match main event and ending the undefeated streak in IMPACT of W. Morrissey. The show goes off the air on that note. Thanks for joining us!

Winner: Eddie Edwards
