Last January 5, WWE released several longtime employees, including wrestling legend William Regal. He worked in the company for more than twenty years, starting out as a wrestler, then transitioning into a management role. Regal worked as WWE’s Director of Talent Development and Head of Global Recruiting as well as the company's main talent scout. William also played an on-screen authority figure role as
the General Manager of NXT.
William Regal's experience and knowledge in pro wrestling will definitely be big contributing factors in landing him a new job as soon as he is cleared to work for a different promotion and the wrestling legend already has a company interested in bringing him in. IMPACT producer Tommy Dreamer appeared on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio and revealed that he has offered William Regal a job, either as a commentator or a General Manager.
Tommy Dreamer said:
“If you look at management, and you look at, let’s say, the New York Giants, their G.M. is retiring, and then there goes the head coach that he picked. There goes everyone associated with that person. Triple H is no longer in charge, and everyone associated with him is gone. The only guy who’s remained is Shawn (Michaels), but Shawn was a Vince guy before he was a Triple H guy. Regal, the moment I heard (he was let go), I shot him a text and said, ‘If you want to be a commentator at Impact or if you want to be a General Manager figure, just let me know.’ He will have something when he chooses to.”
There is no word yet on if Regal is under a 90-day non-compete clause with the WWE, but if he is then that would make him a free agent by Tuesday, April 5. Despite his lengthy legendary career, Regal has yet to work for TNA or IMPACT Wrestling.
