Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon held his 80th birthday party last week and as reported previously, it was attended by multiple wrestling personalities. Below are some highlights of the party as per www.fightfulselect.com
- The following wrestlers were confirmed to be in attendance: Undertaker, John Cena, Drew McIntyre, JBL, Sheamus, The Miz, Titus O'Neil, Michelle McCool, Maryse, Bruce Prichard, Jerry Lawler.
- Current WWE talent weren't surprised that so many wrestling personalities attended party and one person who worked with McMahon in the past stated that "a lot of people here still feel like they owe Vince something, even though he made his money back on them tenfold."
- Another talent (who didn't attend) said many wrestlers don't want to cut ties with Vince until the court proceedings and legal situation with Janel Grant concludes.
- Vince's party itself was intended to be kept "very private" with nobody speaking on the record about it and the event only becoming public knowledge when photos began to be circulated. It is believed that if those photos didn't emerge online, nobody would have known about it.
- Those who did attend and wanted pictures were encouraged to be photographed by a professional photographer who was hired.
- Jerry Lawler initially posted a photo on his social media that showed him posing with Miz, Maryse, Drew McIntyre, Titus O'Neil and Sheamus but was immediately asked by a number of people to take it down, which he did. Lawler for his part is said to be a huge supporter of McMahon, being termed "ride or die" for Vince.
- While there were a number of current WWE wrestlers in attendance, there were also many more that claimed they were invited and chose not to go and others who didn't go due to WWE currently being overseas on their European tour. There were a few that attended only briefly due to having to catch flights to Europe.
- John Cena, JBL and Bruce Prichard have remained close with Vince even after his exit from WWE and the sexual misconduct allegations that have been levied against him. Cena has even been spotted going to dinner with Vince.
- For some wrestlers, it was the first time they had seen Vince in well over two years, since the night after WrestleMania 23 which is the Raw where McMahon infamously changed pretty much the entire script for the show at the last minute.
- Some wrestlers who chose not to go commented that if they were accused of the misconduct that McMahon has been charged with, he would have fired them immediately and severed all ties with them, never speaking to them again.
- Those who had seen Vince after a couple of years noted that he "looked 80", and that McMahon seemed "more frail, walked slower and looked his age."
- None of Stephanie McMahon, Triple H or Nick Khan were in attendance and there was no official WWE involvement or affiliation to Vince's birthday party at all. Some wrestlers ran the invite by WWE officials and were told that the decision to go or not was their own business, not the company's.
- Finally, there remains no discussions of Vince McMahon returning to WWE at this point. High ranking WWE officials have stated that there is no desire from within the company to bring him back and there has been no consideration given to having McMahon contribute from a creative perspective either.
