Jim Ross spoke about the match order at WrestleMania 19 being a source of issues from WWE legends Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin during a recent installment of his Grilling JR podcast.
During the episode, "Good Ole' J.R." reflected on "The Great One" and "The Texas Rattlesnake" not being particularly thrilled with being one of the supporting featured matches under the actual main event of the show, which features Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship.
Featured below is an excerpt from the Grilling JR podcast where the WWE Hall Of Fame announcer recalls this particular issue.
“They (Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar) closed WrestleMania XIX. That wasn’t the plan. They closed the show because Austin, the night before, spent the night in the hospital. Even though he demanded that he was ok to work and the doctors cleared him, we were worried that he and Rock, the third match between the two, might not be what they were looking for based on Steve’s condition. We switched that around. That did not make The Rock or Austin happy. There’s something about closing the show.”
