It was previously reported that Konnan, who is 57 years of age, has been hospitalized due to a kidney issue. It was also noted that Konnan's health issues were serious, but no other details were given at the time.
Back in 2007, Konnan reportedly underwent a kidney transplant and there seemed to be complications at the time, but Konnan was said to be in good health immediately after. Konnan revealed in an interview that his kidney was ruined by painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs. Konnan reportedly also had hip replacement surgery back in 2018.
The official Twitter account of Lucha Libre Online then posted on Twitter that former WWE and current AAA announcer Hugo Savinovich said that Konnan has tested positive for COVID-19.
In an update, Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Konnan is doing better and was discharged from the hospital on Thursday. Konnan reportedly told Meltzer that he was very sick last week and was bedridden for three days. Konnan also told Dave Meltzer he got the COVID-19 virus and went to the hospital and that his kidneys were failing.
It was also mentioned that Konnan had been spending time with no one other than his family, and the Mysterio Family, who recently revealed that they battled COVID-19 back in December. Konnan did attend the IMPACT Wrestling and AAA TV tapings in recent months. Konnan reportedly also went to Las Vegas to do the skit on AEW Dynamite featuring The Inner circle.
There is no word yet on how Konnan got the virus, or if he still has it, but updates will be provided once it has been made available.
