Kurt Angle Reveals How His "Wrestling Machine" Persona Started

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recently took to his The Kurt Angle Show podcast, where he discussed how his "Wrestling Machine" persona started and that is due to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon approaching him and telling The Olympic Gold Medalist that they need to stop doing the funny stuff and that he needed to be taken more seriously.

Kurt Angle said:

“I came up with it. Vince McMahon came to me and said, ‘Listen, we need to stop doing the funny stuff. I want you to be taken more seriously.’ I said, ‘Yeah, that’s fine. What do you want from me?’ He said, ‘I just want a really intense Kurt Angle.’ I said, ‘How about The Wrestling Machine?’ He said, ‘That’s a good idea.’ So that’s how it all started.”

Kurt Angle also spoke about how his "Wrestling Machine" persona worked out really well, but it didn't last long as he was not in the WWE long after the gimmick started, though it was there when his brief run with ECW began.

Kurt Angle said:

“It was my idea, and I ran with it. Yeah, it worked out really well. Unfortunately, it didn’t last that long because I wasn’t in WWE long after that, but for the very beginning in ECW, it worked.”
