One of AEW's top superstars hasn't wrestled at all in 2026 but looks to be coming back in the near future.
After dropping her TBS Championship at New Year's Smash Dynamite at the end of 2025, Mercedes Mone has vanished from AEW TV though she has continued to wrestle at indie shows where she gradually began dropping all the titles she was carrying around.
Fightful Select reports that Mone was always expected to be absent from AEW TV through the Dynasty PPV in April though it's been almost two months since that show and there still is no sign of her return. The report added sources within AEW have continually confirmed that Mone remains under company contract and is planned to return at some point. The date was not revealed but her return was hinted at having "major ramifications" at the top of women's division in AEW.
The report also noted that many expect her to return "relatively soon" and while tonight's Dynamite could be a possible place for that to happen, Mone has yet to be spotted backstage. However, interestingly, some of her signature moves were being practiced by "someone else", implying that perhaps a placeholder talent could have been used in her place.
