AJ Lee, a former WWE Divas Champion and the wife of CM Punk, is all but confirmed to be returning to WWE as early as Friday's Smackdown in Chicago. Lee, who hasn't wrestled since retiring back in 2015, is going to be involved in a storyline with Punk, Seth Rollins and his wife, current WWE Intercontinental Champion, Becky Lynch.
On Tuesday, Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live reported that the current working plan within WWE is for Punk and Lee to team up to take on Rollins and Lynch in a mixed tag match at the September 20 Wrestlepalooza premium live event in Indianapolis.
WWE is stacking Wrestlepalooza as it not only is the first event as part of their new deal with ESPN but it runs directly against AEW's All Out in yet the latest clash between the two promotions.
