Latest Update On Speculation Surrounding The Lucha Underground Teaser

Lucha Underground, which is now a defunct wrestling promotion and series, posted a video on Twitter (X) in late May and hinted at a potential “rebirth” of the company on their official website.

According to Fightful Select, it’s important to clarify that there is no confirmed information about the teaser, and the key term to note is “speculation.” The report also mentioned that Amazon MGM holds a controlling interest in Lucha Underground. Sources in the industry have suggested that Amazon MGM seems content with the library that is currently available. There have been inquiries in the past regarding the potential sale of the library, but no significant interest has been shown by the media conglomerate in selling it.

Additionally, one source from AEW indicated a belief that WWE could be involved with Lucha Underground, although this has not been confirmed. Industry insiders have suggested that the recent buzz might be aimed at generating interest ahead of a YouTube channel launch for Lucha Underground content.

Lucha Underground was launched in 2014 and ran for four seasons as a TV series on El Rey Network. Developed by Mark Burnett and Robert Rodriguez, the series featured stars such as Rey Mysterio, Penta, Rey Fenix, Angelico, Chelsea Green, Thunder Rosa, Dr. Wagner Jr., Melina, Swerve Strickland, and many others. The final episode aired in November 2018.
