Latest Update On When WWE Will Move Smackdown Back To Two Hours In Length

WWE Friday Night Smackdown has been airing in a three-hour block since the beginning of the year after earlier having moved off of FOX and onto the USA Network. At the time, it was believed that the three-hour episodes would continue through WrestleMania 41 before reverting to two hours at some point this spring.

In an update, Dave Meltzer reports in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there have been talks about scaling back Smackdown to two hours beginning with the June 6 show. However, he cautioned that is not a hard date as earlier reports had noted it would happen at the end of May. Sources within WWE say that while it is a foregone conclusion that Smackdown will go back to two hours, the date when it happens isn't etched in stone but is set to be finalized internally this week.

Unlike WWE Raw which streams online on Netflix, Smackdown since it airs on traditional cable does not have the same sort of flexibility week-to-week to run differing run lengths.
