-- Drew McIntyre has been on the receiving end of a push as the WWE's Royal Rumble draws closer, having been labeled as one of the favorites for the match. The push has drawn speculation on whether McIntyre has re-signed a contract with WWE as traditionally, the company focuses on those stars that are going to be with the promotion long-term.
-- PWInsider.com is reporting that despite the push, the situation with McIntyre and WWE remains the same in that no new contract has been signed. As of now, McIntyre is set to become a free agent shortly after WrestleMania 40 when taking into account some time that was added to his deal after he took time off after last year's WrestleMania. While no extension has yet been agreed upon, there is still time and as reported previously, WWE is taking a chronological approach in locking in wrestlers to new deals in the order in which they are set to expire. This has been something of a new norm since WWE was sold to Endeavor.
