Since WWE NXT UK shut down in 2022, the company has been planning to launch NXT Europe as part of its European expansion of the NXT brand. However, this launch has experienced delays. According to a report from PWInsider.com in May, there has been some progression regarding the brand's launch. The last public update from WWE came in April during an interview with Paul "Triple H" Levesque, who confirmed that NXT Europe is still in the works but did not provide further details.
Fightful Select reported that talent at a recent UK tryout received little information about NXT Europe, other than confirmation that it is still forthcoming. Additionally, the report indicated that there was no suggestion that the tryout was directly linked to the plans for NXT Europe. A former NXT UK talent mentioned that WWE’s consistent update of "still coming" has been the standard response when inquiries have been made about the project. Another former wrestler expressed skepticism, stating they would believe in the launch when they actually see it happen.
Some European promoters speculate that the recent developments might be related to AEW's efforts to establish a presence in the UK, particularly in light of last year’s All In event at Wembley Stadium, the upcoming AEW Dynamite taping, and the Forbidden Door event taking place in London. While some promoters are apprehensive about NXT Europe potentially taking talent away from their promotions, others believe that the signing of top talent would not be detrimental. One promoter noted that the region has successfully produced new stars after the closure of NXT UK and the impact of COVID-19, and they are confident the same would happen if top stars move to NXT Europe.
In terms of talent, the potential launch of NXT Europe this year has been viewed positively, as it could elevate local stars and offer signed talents better financial opportunities. Several wrestlers have indicated that NXT Europe would need to provide higher salaries compared to the contracts offered by NXT UK, under which talents were often encouraged to have second jobs. However, many talents, especially those in the UK and France, remain doubtful about the near-future launch of NXT Europe.
