The headline bout for the second WWE premium live event of the New Year appears to be locked in.
As previously reported, there was talk heading into 2023 that the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view kicking off the New Year would feature Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens in an Undisputed WWE Universal Championship showdown as the main event of the show, and that the WWE Elimination Chamber show would feature Reigns vs. Sami Zayn.
Obviously the WWE Royal Rumble 2023 show has come-and-gone after this past weekend, and the company did, in fact, promote Reigns vs. Owens as the headline bout.
Coming out of the show, Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com is reporting that Reigns vs. Zayn in the main event spot for the upcoming WWE Elimination Chamber 2023 premium live event on February 18 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada is "as confirmed as it can be" for the final PPV show before WrestleMania 39.
“Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn is now as confirmed as it can be for the 2/18 Elimination Chamber show main event in Montreal," Meltzer wrote. "I’m not sure what the men’s [Elimination] Chamber match would be for since you’ve got Cody Rhodes already for the main event at WrestleMania."
He continued, "Of course this is WWE and everything is subject to change, but major changes to planned PPV shows have been less with Paul Levesque in charge."
