New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) previously announced that their upcoming Battle In The Valley Event on Saturday, February 18 from inside the San Jose Civic Center in San Jose, California will see reigning IWGP Women's Champion KAIRI defend her IWGP Women's Championship against Mercedes Moné and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada put his IWGP World Heavyweight Title on the line against Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Other matchups also announced for the show include Jay White facing Eddie Kingston in Singles action, Homicide taking on "Filthy" Tom Lawlor in a Filthy Rules Fight, which is a match with no ropes and no rules, David Finlay facing Bobby Fish in a Singles Match, Alex Coughlin battling JR Kratos in Singles action, NJPW World Television Champion Zack Sabre Jr. defending his title against Clark Connors, NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Fred Rosser defending his championship against KENTA, reigning NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Champions and IMPACT World Tag Team Champions Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley of The Motor City Machine Guns putting their titles on the line against Royce Isaacs and Jorel Nelson of The World Class Wrecking Crew and reigning IMPACT World Champion Josh Alexander teaming with NWA Historic Welterweight Champion Rocky Romero, Mascara Dorada and Adrian Quest to go up against Volador Jr., The DKC, Kevin Knight and KUSHIDA in an 8-Man Tag Team Match.
During a phone call with Wrestling Observer Live, it was made official that the Singles Match between Jay White and Eddie Kingston will now be contested under Loser Leaves NJPW rules, which means whoever loses the matchup will no longer be able to wrestle for NJPW in any capacity. Jay White recently lost a Loser Leaves Japan Match to Hikuleo and it was believed that Jay White could still be competing for NJPW in America or he could even sign with WWE, IMPACT Wrestling or AEW, but if White loses his match against Kingston, then he will no longer be working for NJPW even in America.
