Man Arrested for Stalking, Attempted Kidnapping of WWE Star Sonya Deville

-- The Tampa Tribune reports that a South Carolina is under arrest after he broke into the Florida home of WWE star Sonya Deville early Sunday morning. Phillip A. Thomas II, 24, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief. He was being held without bail.

-- Thomas reportedly began planning an abduction of Deville - real name Daria Berenato - about eight months ago but carried out his plan this weekend by parking his car around midnight at a local church, before walking to the home owned by the wrestling star. He then cut a hole in the patio screen and remained on the patio for three to four hours, watching and listening through the window. At approximately 2:45 AM, the homeowner (Berenato) called it a night and went to bed which is when Thomas entered the home through a sliding glass door. This activated the home's alarm system and Berenato spotted the accused out a window and on the property and called 911. Along with a guest, she then fled the home in a vehicle.

-- When police arrived minutes later, Thomas - a crew member at Applebees - was still in the home and was found to be carrying a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, mace and other items and told officers he was planning to take the homeowner hostage. A statement from deputies read as follows:

"“Our deputies are unveiling the suspect’s disturbing obsession with this homeowner who he had never met, but stalked on social media for years. It’s frightening to think of all the ways this incident could have played out had the home alarm not gone off and alerted the homeowner of an intruder.”
