Mickie James Says WWE's Evolution PPV Was Almost Set Up To Fail

Former WWE Star Mickie James, who recently joined the NWA and is set to produce their all-women’s PPV Event known as EMPOWERRR, appeared on Wrestling Inc.'s Daily podcast, where she talked about the 2019 WWE Evolution PPV Event and how she had hoped a second Evolution PPV Event will take place as she had thought the first event was monumental, but she didn't know that according to officials it was one of the lowest-rated PPVs of all-time.

Mickie James said:

“I thought we had made such a monumental stride by announcing Evolution.” “We all thought it was the start of something really, really cool.” “Everyone hoped for a yearly event.” “But I was told it was the lowest-rated pay-per-view of all-time.”

Mickie James then talked about how in her opinion Evolution was almost set up to fail as matches were not announced until a week or two before and there was no promotion or marketing at all.

Mickie James said:

“It was only really promoted for a month. The matches weren’t even announced but a week or two before. There was zero promotion or marketing.”

“It was almost set up to fail.” “If there was as much energy and focus put into it as perhaps some of the other events, and made and highlighted how monumental this actually is, perhaps that wouldn’t be true.”

Mickie James then talked about how everyone wanted a second Evolution PPV, which includes the fans as well as the other women on the independent scene.

Mickie James said:

“I think we all collectively wanted it, not just in the locker room but also the fans and even the women on the independents.”

Mickie James then talked about how she hopes EMPOWERRR won't be a one-off PPV Event, but the first of many.

Mickie James said:

“It’s not going to be just a one-off.” “We hope it’s the first of many.” “I really want to make this something unique and special and a way to highlight the women in a different way you don’t necessarily see on modern television today.” “I think there’s a cool way to do that from a female perspective.”
