Miro Reportedly Asks For Release From AEW

-- After having not wrestled at all in 2024 and rarely since 2023, veteran AEW wrestler has asked for his release according to a report from fightfulselect.com.

-- Miro, formerly Rusev in WWE, last won a match at AEW Worlds End in 2023 and ended up being sidelined longer than AEW expected after that match. However he has reportedly been healthy for "quite some time" and there was some internal consideration given to bringing him back in the AEW All In Casino Gauntlet match. Miro also had pitched a program with Jon Moxley earlier in 2024 but neither he or AEW could align from a creative perspective, a fairly common occurrence between the two sides in recent times.

-- The former WWE wrestler joined AEW in September of 2020 and has wrestled only 11 matches since the end of 2021 and seven matches in 2023. His contract initially was set to expire in the spring of 2022, however, an extension was signed that has him under agreement until the spring of 2026. It is unclear if or when Miro will be granted his release from AEW and to that end, if he is let go, whether there would be any interest from WWE. On his current deal, it is believed that Miro earns "into the seven figures."
