Monday Night Raw Quick Recap for January 17, 2022
Matches Tonight: Seven (approximately 40 minutes)
- Tag Match: Bianca Belair & Liv Morgan vs Doudrop & Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch. Disappointingly short match, but great for what it lasted. Doudrop turned on Lynch to steal the pin for their team. 8:15-8:17pm EST.
- Singles Non-Title Match: United States Champion Damian Priest vs Kevin Owens. Very good match that saw Owens win with the Stunner. 8:41-8:51pm EST.
- Singles Match: Austin Theory vs Finn Bálor. Theory picked up the win fair and square over the returning Bálor. 9:21-9:27pm EST.
- Singles Match: Rhea Ripley vs Nikki A.S.H. The match never started as Zelina Vega & Carmella spent the majority of the time talking smack. Nikki used the distraction to attack Rhea, beating her to the point that the match never even started. Null match. 9:35-9:40pm EST.
- Singles Match: Omos vs Reggie w/ 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke. Here's the entire match: bell rings, Omos chokeslams Reggie, Omos wins. That short. 9:48-9:49pm EST.
- Eight Man Tag Match: The Street Profits & the Mysterios vs the Dirty Dawgs and Apollo Crews & Cmdr. Azeez. Good match that saw Ford pick up the win for the Profits & Mysterios by hitting his highest-leaping Frog Splash yet. 10:12-10:21pm EST.
- Main Event Singles Match: Bobby Lashley w/ MVP vs Seth Rollins. Lashley won by DQ when the Hurt Business--now only Cedric & Shelton-- attacked Lashley. Post match, Lashley took out the Hurt Business and the Usos showed up at the end to double-superkick Rollins. 10:45-10:59pm EST.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
- A Big-Time Response: Lynch opened our show with her usual rhetoric. She was eventually joined by Doudrop, Liv Morgan and Bianca Belair. All four exchanged words and promises to win the Rumble ahead of their tag match. 8:01-8:12pm EST.
- The KO Show: Seth Rollins was the special guest tonight. Both spent the segment kissing each others butts, denigrating Lashley and Lesnar, and plotting a "dream match" between the two at WrestleMania after Seth, presumably, wins the title from Roman and Owens, also presumably, wins the Rumble. 8:26-8:36pm EST.
- Alpha Academy Graduation Ceremony: To celebrate their Raw tag title win, the Alpha Academy held a "ceremony" in which they were both dressed in caps and gowns, like college grads. Riddle came out in a cap and gown and exchanged barbs with Gable. Eventually, Orton showed up to hit an RKO--you guessed it, outta nowhere--on Gable. RK-Bro then accepted a challenge, a series of tests to earn a rematch. 8:58-9:09pm EST.
- Maryse Confronts Beth Phoenix: Maryse suckered Phoenix & Edge into a trap by claiming she wanted to cancel their Rumble match. The Miz attacked Edge from behind, and Maryse used her purse (containing a brick) to lay out Phoenix. 9:56-10:02pm EST.
- Alexa Bliss: the Journey Continues...: We get another segment of Bliss with her therapist. Nothing happened other than a word association game in which every answer from Bliss was "Lily." 10:35-10:38pm EST.
- Change in Business Management: The Hurt Business now consists solely of Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander.
