Monday Night Raw Quick Recap for June 20, 2022
Matches Tonight: Six (approx. 61 minutes)
- Women's Championship Contenders Fatal 5-Way Match: Becky Lynch, Asuka, Liv Morgan, Carmella, Alexa Bliss. The winner replaces the injured Rhea Ripley in the Raw Women's Championship match at Money in the Bank. Exciting match that, sadly, saw Carmella steal the win from Alexa Bliss. 8:16-8:29pm EST.
- Money in the Bank Qualifying Match: Riddle vs Omos. Omos all but squashed Riddle easily. After the match, Seth Rollins attacked Riddle. 8:56-8:58pm EST.
- Singles Match: Jey Uso w/ Jimmy vs Angelo Dawkins w/ Montez Ford. Despite the lengthy time, most of this match was held over two commercial breaks. Dawkins picked up the win. 9:22-9:36pm EST.
- Mystery Gauntlet Match: Bobby Lashley came out to face three unannounced opponents, with an opportunity to challenge Theory at Money in the Bank for the United States title on the line. Out first was Chad Gable accompanied by Otis, who was defeated with the Hurt Lock. 9:57-10:03pm EST. Otis attacked Lashley and after some brief confusion, turned out to be the second challenger. Otis lost by DQ when Gable attempted to "make the save" in a singles match The duo then beat down Lashley for a minute or so. 10:03-10:11pm EST. Out last was the youngest United States Champion in WWE history, Theory, who lasted perhaps a minute before being rolled-up by Lashley, securing the title shot at MitB. 10:12-10:13pm EST.
- Singles Match: AJ Styles vs Ciampa. Short but solid match between the two veterans that saw Styles go over Ciampa. 10:33-10:37pm EST.
- Money in the Bank Qualifying Main Event Match: Becky Lynch vs Asuka, with the winner joining already-qualified Liv Morgan, Alexa Bliss and Lacey Evans (out of what's rumored to be a 7-woman MitB match). Asuka picked up the win after a roundhouse kick. 10:47-10:59pm EST.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
- Ripley Injured; Out of MitB--Fatal 5-Way to Determine Replacement: Opening our show was Bianca Belair. She informed us that Rhea Ripley isn't medical cleared to wrestle at MitB a week from Saturday. She states Ripley will get a shot when she returns, and announces a fatal 5-way match to find her opponent at MitB. 8:02-8:11pm EST.
- Vince McMahon Came Out and...: got a great pop, announced John Cena's on Raw next week, and left--just as oddly as last week's SmackDown. 8:36-8:38pm EST.
- Riddle Him This: Riddle came out and found a legal loophole--winning the Money in the Bank would give him the ability to challenge Roman Reigns again (after losing three nights ago, with the stipulation attached that he could not challenge Roman again as champ). His opponent for the night, Omos, came out with MVP threatening to end him tonight instead. 8:47-8:51pm EST.
- An All Mighty Theory: Theory had a one-man pose-off but was attacked by Lashley afterwards. During his promo, however, Theory insulted John Cena--who'll be on Raw next week.
- Once Again it's Time to Walk With Elias...and Ezekiel!: A backstage segment aired first, followed by a commercial break, then a "live concert" from Elias. Kevin Owens interrupted it and came to blows with Elias, who broke a guitar over his back. Immediately afterwards, backstage, KO challenged "him" to a match--and Ezekiel accepted it. 9:37-pm EST.
- Miz TV: Tonight's guest, AJ Styles, ultimately came to blows with the Miz before Ciampa attacked him from behind, building more towards future feuds with both men for the Phenomenal One. 10:24-10:29pm EST.
- Rough Statistics: Air time allotted: 180 minutes. Standard average commercial break allowance, 48 minutes. 132 minutes net broadcast time; 61 minutes of wrestling, 62 minutes of junk.
- Money in the Bank Card updates: Raw Women's Championship: Bianca Belair(c) vs Carmella, filling in for injured Rhea Ripley. Added to the men's MitB: Omos. Added to the women's MitB: Asuka.
