To not much of a surprise, former AEW wrestler Danhausen is officially in WWE.
Over the last few weeks, speculation began to grow that the AEW veteran was on his way after his contract with AEW began nearing its end, believed to be the end of February. Originally set to expire in 2025, Danhausen had asked AEW not to extend the agreement but the company did it anyway, tacking on time where the wrestler was sidelined with injury. At the time, it was already begun to be known that WWE was interested in bringing him in.
According to Fightful Select, Danhausen was always planned to be the surprise in the mystery crate from the moment it was first unveiled on WWE Raw even though he was technically still under AEW contract at the time. WWE had further already planned to continue using his existing name and gimmick though there were internal pitches that would have seen him branded with a new name, similar to WWE dropping Powerhouse Hobbs in favor of Royce Keys.
The report added that WWE is likely going to be using Danhausen across multiple brands, including AAA though for the immediate future, he is expected at tonight's episode of WWE Raw. He is expected to pull out of any independent dates and conventions where he was scheduled.
