Earlier this month, the makeup and structure of WWE's creative teams on Raw and Smackdown were reported which essentially revealed a hierarchy of writers all ultimately rolling up to Paul Levesque. This week, Dave Meltzer provided an update on this structure in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
According to Meltzer, Ryan Ward received a bit of a "small promotion" within the Smackdown team and at the expense of co-head writers John Swikata and Brian "Road Dogg" James, both of whom took small hits on their stock. Meltzer also provided updates on William Regal, Michael Hayes, Paul Heyman and even Nick Khan and where they fit in the creative process.
According to Meltzer, Regal doesn't really have a role on creative but instead he is tasked with critiquing the style and believability of the matches that end up on Raw and Smackdown. Michael Hayes is a "day of the show" producer while also helping with creative on the biggest shows. Paul Heyman contributes with long-term planning while also being extremely hands-on with the creative specific to his people (The Vision, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns). Finally, Nick Khan - while denied publicly - does have a voice within creative but he only deals with Levesque and doesn't work with the creative team directly.
