More Details on Rey Mysterio Working for WWE Without a Current Contract

-- In a rare move (especially for WWE), Rey Mysterio is working Extreme Rules later this month without a contract. Rather he is working under the terms of his original 18-month contract which means that technically, he could no-show the PPV and instead show up on the 7/15 AEW Dynamite or 7/18 Slammiversary if he ended up coming to terms with AEW or Impact, respectively. However, the Observer Newletter is confident that won’t happen and points to the level of trust that Vince McMahon has in Mysterio to book him into such a prominent storyline with a match on a PPV without a deal in place where Mysterio could leave without any notice.

-- WWE originally wanted Mysterio to sign a minimum three-year contract, but he obviously stood his ground and got them to agree to half that length. Also the fact that he is without a contract means that he could essentially be negotiating with everyone right now and have the luxury of comparing both the length and term of any offers he gets.
