More Details On Stephanie Vaquer Shunning CMLL, NJPW & AEW In Favor Of Signing With WWE

– Stephanie Vaquer abruptly left CMLL a couple of weeks while still holding multiple titles, choosing to promptly sign with WWE. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW made a strong play for her offering her a deal that would allow her to work Fridays and other dates for CMLL as well as previously announced international bookings. However, it is believed she never even seriously considered AEW as she had grown up watching WWE and made it her goal to get there even after a failed tryout in 2018.

– The report added that CMLL and NJPW were aware of her discussions with WWE and asked her to do the Fantastica Mania PPV in San Jose since they had been heavily advertising her and New Japan in particular hates false advertising. CMLL at that time knew she was going to leave and also requested she drop their titles on the way out. However, Vaquer signed with WWE on either July 7 or 8th and worked her last match on the 9th while advising CMLL and NJPW she would not be working any further dates for them. The Observer claims that a WWE source noted that they offered a “tremendous” contract mainly because they were aware of AEW’s interest in signing her. NJPW was said to be the most upset because she was advertised for an appearance for three months and then pulled out only five days before the event.

– Vaquer later wrote Vaquer wrote that she was “leaving through the front door,” a sign that she did business on the way out and all was fine. CMLL has a company insult for those who leave on bad terms and say they left out the back door.
