More on WWE Changing Up Super ShowDown & WrestleMania Plans

— One of the reasons WWE switched up the Universal title match for WrestleMania is because of the perception (perhaps correct) is that for WrestleMania, the average fan cared more about a Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns match for the title than Reigns vs. Fiend.

— The original plan - as late as last week was for The Fiend, who as a heel has dominated every babyface not seen since the days of Kane, go through everyone not named Roman Reigns before facing him at WrestleMania. It was for this reason that Reigns was kept far away from The Fiend while working a program with King Corbin, as was noted by the Observer Newsletter.

— Apart from names that weren’t brought to Saudi Arabia last time for various reasons (John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Aleister Black), Randy Orton was also curiously missing and it’s unclear if that was by choice or just due to the booking. Rusev was originally booked in the gauntlet match but pulled out claiming a back injury, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Overall, WWE brought in less than half the talent compared to previous shows in the country.
