The NWA (the National Wrestling Alliance) has had a lot of huge stars carry the promotion as of late, but possibly one of the biggest, if not the biggest is none other than former NWA World's Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the promotion had a lot of turnover and a number of stars even returned to the company since then. The promotion was able to sign Kylie Rae as well to help with their women’s division.
Fightful Select reports that Nick Aldis told them he accepted a considerably low amount of pay during the pandemic to help the promotion alleviate the changes they were dealing with and several other NWA talents were given pay cuts as well. Aldis' NWA contract was picked up last year and he would sign an extension with the company earlier this year. The report also states that AEW had made Aldis an offer in 2019, but Aldis turned them down. NWA owner Billy Corgan said during an interview that Aldis isn't part of their creative because he doesn’t want to be and he only wants to be a talent.
