As previously reported, last week’s AEW Dynamite viewership and ratings experienced a significant decline due to the introduction of the new Nielsen TV ratings measurement system, known as the “Big Data + Panel” method.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, the new Nielsen system will eventually incorporate HBO Max viewership data into AEW's programming numbers sometime next year. Meltzer pointed out that while including HBO Max viewership may improve AEW's ratings, the overall decline in ratings across the board for all of professional wrestling—particularly for WWE and AEW—is concerning for the industry. He also noted it is unusual that Nielsen measures pro wrestling differently than other sports, highlighting the complexity of the situation.
AEW began simulcasting its main programming on Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform, HBO Max, in January. However, Warner Bros. Discovery has not disclosed or reported viewership numbers for Dynamite and Collision on the platform. Earlier in March, BJ Bethel of SEScoops reported that Dynamite was averaging 500,000 viewers on HBO Max since its debut on the platform in January 2025. Earlier this month, WBD confirmed in a statement to WrestleNomics that the new Nielsen TV ratings measurement system for AEW programming does not include any HBO Max streaming viewership.
