During last night's NJPW Hyper Battle 2022 Day 5 Event from the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan, an announcement was made by the promotion that the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Title has been vacated. SANADA, who held the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Title, revealed during last night's show that due to him suffering an orbital fracture at the 2022 New Japan Cup Event, he had no choice but to vacate the title, but no timetable was announced for his in-ring return.
As previously reported, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Will Ospreay is set to battle each other at NJPW's 2022 Wrestling Dontaku Event on Sunday, May 1st for the vacant IWGP United States Heavyweight Title.
