NJPW Announces Wrestle Kingdom 17 As A One-Night Event, New Year Dash Event Set To Return

New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) recently announced that their Wrestle Kingdom 17 PPV Event, which will take place on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023 from the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, will return to a one-night only PPV Event. This is the first time in four years that NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom will be a one-night only PPV Event as their last one-night only Wrestle Kingdom PPV Event was Wrestle Kingdom 13 in 2019. NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom 14 and Wrestle Kingdom 15 were two-night PPVs, while the Wrestle Kingdom 16 Event was a three-night PPV, with the third night featuring a NJPW vs. Pro Wrestling NOAH card.

There were reports earlier this week that mentioned plans were in place for AEW wrestlers to work the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 PPV Event, but no other details have been provided. This would mean that some AEW wrestler will have to miss that week's episode of AEW Dynamite and AEW Rampage.

NJPW also announced that their New Year Dash PPV Event is set to return in 2023 and that it will take place on Thursday, January 5th inside the Ota Ward Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. The New Year Dash Event is usually a post-Wrestle Kingdom mystery card event, with the card only being announced prior to the show getting underway.
