In a new interview with NJPW, Suzuki-Gun member Zack Sabre Jr. discusses the possibility of facing AEW superstar Jon Moxley, who currently also holds the IWGP United States championship for New Japan. Sabre states that Moxley has already been targeting his group after defeating leader Minoru Suzuki at the New Beginning In Osaka pay per view, and plans on taking the U.S. title from him on his home turf at Wrestle Dynasty.
I don’t think anything would be better than being US Champion at Wrestle Dynasty, and how upset American wrestling fans would be. I think as well, Moxley was coming after my group, I didn’t want to wait for him to come to me, I wanted to jump in.
The former British Heavyweight champion then claims that Moxley's hardcore style won't help him against Sabre's technical prowess.
I can appreciate that fans would be excited about that; I’m excited about that. You don’t know which way it’s going to go. He’s been having these hardcore rules with everyone and that isn’t going to work with me; you can keep the furniture under the ring, sunshine. I wouldn’t be chasing after him if I didn’t think I could win. I can win. It won’t be easy, but I can win.
Whether Wrestle Dynasty will occur remains to be seen, as the ongoing COVID-19 crisis has forced NJPW to postpone all events through the month of May. There's also the concern that Moxley is not allowed to work NJPW events in the United States due to his contract with AEW.
