Hello again wrestling fans, and welcome back to the NXT UK Recap. This edition of the show is centered around the NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship Number One Contender tournament. There will also be a singles match featuring Superstars from the NXT UK women’s division, and more.
NXT UK (8/12/21)
⁃ The show opening video package plays NXT UK on-air, and the announce team runs down the lineup for today’s show.
⁃ Flash Morgan Webster makes his way down the ramp, and he’s in the first match.
Flash Morgan Webster vs Wolfgang
The opening bell sounds, and both men start off slow. After a brief standoff, Wolfgang charges at Webster, but Flash side steps the big man. They finally tie up for a moment, until Webster lands a thunderous kick to the leg of Wolfgang, and uses his speed to scurry to the outside. Webster climbs back into the ring, where Wolfgang slows things down with a three-quarter nelson. Wolfgang finally releases the hold, and Flash stuns him with another big kick. Wolfgang falls to the outside of the ring, where Flash goes on the attack. Wolfgang quickly stops Flash, and throws Webster ribs first into the barricade. Back in the ring, Wolfgang continues to inflict punishment on his smaller opponent, and begins to grind Webster into the mat. Webster tries to make it back to a vertical base, and Wolfgang stops him with a bear hug. Wolfgang applies a nasty stretch on Webster, and nails him with a few shots to the ribs for good measure. Flash briefly breaks free, and mounts some impressive offense, before dropping Wolfgang down to a knee. While Wolfgang is down, Webster goes for a Pedigree, but Wolfgang flips Webster off of him. Wolfgang runs the ropes, and nails a sliding senton, before following up with a pin attempt. Webster kicks out, and goes back on the attack, then tries to put away Wolfgang with a knee to the jaw. Webster applies a cover, and Wolfgang kicks out just in the knick of time. The match continues with Webster in full control, who heads to the top rope, and misses a senton. Wolfgang follows up the miss by nailing a spear, and hooks the leg of Webster for the 1-2-3.
⁃ After the match: Sid Scala announces that in two weeks time, Rampage Brown and Mark Coffey will do battle in a Submission or Knockout only match.
⁃ Backstage: Mark Andrews and Dani Luna are confronted by Isla Dawn.
⁃ Earlier this week: Moustache Mountain comment on their NXT UK Tag Team Championship opportunity.
⁃ Earlier this week: Sid Scala tells Jinny she will face Aoife Valkyrie in a No-DQ match. Sid also informs Joseph Connors that he will be locked in a cage at ringside.
⁃ In the studio: Amale makes her way down the aisle, and she’s in the next match.
Amale vs Nina Samuels
The bell sounds, and both women start off aggressive. Amale and Nina exchange brutal shots straight out of the gate, until Amale makes it rain strikes on Samuels. Both women go into the corner, and Amale explodes out with a bulldog. Amale applies a cover to Samuels, but Nina is still to fresh. Amale continues the offensive attack, and scores a roll up, but Samuels quickly kicks out. Nina regroups, and begins to work on some offense of her own, while throwing in some trash talk. Samuels finally goes into full control of the match, and grinds the face of Amale into the ropes. The referee forces a rope break, and the brief pause allows Amale to turn momentum in her favor. Amale hits a spinning neck breaker on Samuels, and talks some trash of her own, but Samuels capitalizes with a roll up. Nina continues to fire back up, and nails consecutive slams on Amale, before hooking the leg for a cover. Amale kicks out on instincts, and the match continues. Samuels begins to get frustrated, and tries to use the ropes to her advantage. Samuels drapes Amale over the ropes, and misses an attempt, allowing Amale to try a pin. Samuels kicks out, and Amale immediately follows up with a Heartbreaker for the 1-2-3.
⁃ After the match: A video package recaps the rivalry between Ilja Dragunov and WALTER.
⁃ In a promo package: Meiko Satomura sends a warning to her next challenger, Stevie Turner. They’ll square off next week.
⁃ Back from the break: Pretty Deadly run down Moustache Mountain, and step on photos of their challengers.
⁃ The commentary team announces the lineup for next week, until it’s time for the main event.
NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship #1 Contender Tournament match: Mark Andrews vs Noam Dar
The round 1 bell sounds, and both men get right to it. Andrews misses an attempt, and Dar gives Mark a piece of his mind. Both men tie it up, and grapple all around the ring, until Andrews scores a takedown. Both men exchange words again, and Mark grabs a headlock on Dar. Andrews grounds Noam into the mat, and Dar nearly makes it back to his feet. Andrews takes him down again, and Dar scores a reversal on the mat. Both superstars stand up once again, and Andrews takes Dar right back down, until time runs out on the round.
The second round begins, and Dar reaches for a test of strength. Andrews grabs a hand, and both men try to out muscle each other. Noam forces Andrews into a bridge, and nearly makes a pin attempt, but Mark slides out. Dar turns up the intensity, and lays in a few kicks to the ribs. Dar hits a snapmare takedown, and rolls through into a cover, but Mark won’t go away. Dar continues the offense, and becomes methodical in his approach. Noam takes the match to the outside of the ring, and tosses Andrews into the barricade. Dar rolls Andrews back into the ring, and tries a cover, but Andrews quickly kicks out. Dar let’s out a primal scream, and the pace picks up yet again, as time runs out on the round.
The third round begins with an excellent grappling exchange, and Dar misses a kick. Andrews heads to the top rope, but Noam kicks him off, as Teoman makes his way out the the ramp, along with Rohan Raja. Dar goes on the offensive attack, and tries a schoolboy attempt, but Andrews rolls through and blocks it. Mark follows up with a stomp to the chest of Dar, and another one for good measure, but takes to long on a standing moonsault attempt. Noam takes Andrews knee out from under him, and slides to the outside of the ring, where Mark is able to follow up with a tope suicida. Andrews quickly rolls Dar back in the ring, and heads to the top for a springboard attempt, but he misses. Mark grabs the injured knee after the miss, and Dar goes on the attack with a submission hold, forcing Andrews to tapout.
Noam Dar leads 1-0
Teoman and Rohan Raja leave after round three, and round four rapidly gets under way. Both men go straight to work on each other, and exchange strike after strike, until Andrews floors Dar with a dropkick. Andrews applies a knee bar on Noam, until Dar kicks Mark away. Dar lands an elbow strike, and goes straight into an ankle lock. Andrews rolls through, and scores a surprise roll up on Dar for the 1-2-3.
Round 5 waists no time getting started, and Andrews goes for a quick cover. Dar kicks out, and the back and fourth action continues. Andrews turns up the aggression, as well as Dar, who catches Mark in ankle lock. Andrews rolls through, and stands up, but Dar catches him with a stiff elbow shot. Andrews goes down to the mat, and Dar sets up to put the match away. Noam misses the Nova Roller, and finds himself looking up at the lights. Andrews heads to the top rope one more time, but he takes to long to jump. Dar kicks the previously injured knee out from under Andrews, and Mark comes crashing down, immediately grabbing his knee. Dar runs to the opposite corner of the ring, and tees up a thunderous Nova Roller for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Noam Dar, 2-1
