NXT UK Recap (1/20): NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship Up For Grabs

Hello again wrestling fans, and welcome back to the Rajah.Com recap of NXT UK.

The latest episode of WWE NXT UK featured an NXT UK Heritage Cup title defense, and so much more. Check it out:

WWE NXT UK (1/20/22)

-Intro: The show kicks off with the usual opening intro, and NXT UK is underway!

-In the studio: Nigel McGuniness and Andy Shepherd hype the main event, until Pretty Deadly enters the studio for a match.

Pretty Deadly vs. Sam Gradwell & ???

Former NXT UK Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly squared off with Sam Gradwell, and a partner of Gradwell’s choosing. Sam struggled to find a partner, until Saxon Huxley made the save.

In the closing moments of the 9.5 minute contest, Kenny Williams attacked Huxley on the outside of the ring, leaving Gradwell all by himself. Lewis Howley and Sam Stoker of Pretty Deadly would go on to nail Gradwell with Spilled Milk, and pick up their first victory of the year.

Winners: Pretty Deadly

-Promo package: Jinny runs down Amale, and calls The French Hope “nothing.”
-Flashback: Viewers are taken back to last week, where Gallus distracted Die Familie in the middle of a match, causing the new tag team to lose to Jack Starz and Dave Mastiff. Both teams exchange words in a promo package, and they’ll square off next week.

**commercial break**

-Promo package: Blair Davenport shares the story behind her last name, and says “Davenport’s only trust Davenport’s.” Blair closes by warning Meiko Satomura that she plans to show the NXT UK Women’s Champion how “cold-hearted” she can be.
-In the studio: Emilia McKenzie makes her way to the ring, and women’s division is on deck!

Emilia McKenzie vs. Isla Dawn

Emilia McKenzie and Isla Dawn renewed a rivalry that began last summer, which featured mysterious happenings that were caused by Dawn.

Isla and Emilia locked horns for the first time this year, and battled through a match that lasted 5 minutes and 31 seconds. In the end, Dawn put Emilia away with a wicked Driver variation, and notched her first victory of the year.

Winner: Isla Dawn

-Promo package: Amale responds to the comments Jinny made earlier in the show, and tells The Fashionista “I am hope, and hope never dies.”

**commercial break**

-Video package: Multiple highlights of Ilja Dragunov’s current reign as NXT UK Champion are shown, until Jordan Devlin cuts in. Devlin and Dragunov exchange words via promo package, ahead of next week’s Empty Arena match for the NXT UK Championship.

-In the studio: A-Kid walks that aisle, and it’s time for the main event!

NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship

A-Kid vs. Noam Dar(c) w/ Sha Samuels

For the first time since 2021, A-Kid and Noam Dar hit the ring, in a match contested under Heritage Cup Rules. Take a look at the round-by-round breakdown:

*Round 1- Draw

*Round 2- Draw

*Round 3- Noam Dar scored the first fall of the bout, after blasting A-Kid with a Nova Roller.

*Round 4- A-Kid evened things up at one a piece, after spiking Dar with a vicious DDT variation.

*Round 5- Draw

*Round 6- Draw

Winner via Draw, and still NXT UK Heritage Cup Champion: Noam Dar

-After the match: Nigel sings the praises of the reigning NXT UK Heritage Cup Champion, until the show goes off air.
