Post-SummerSlam Press Conference Recap With HHH, Cody Rhodes & more

-- The press conference starts with new WWE women's champion Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton. Jax gets a round of applause. The first question asks Jax how this title win differs from her last one that was six years ago. Jax says this is her very first SummerSlam and it was special because her mother and aunt were in attendance.

-- The next question says one year ago she wasn't even in WWE and now to have won the championship with her family in attendance, how does she feel. Jax says it's an incredible feeling but she's extremely grateful to HHH for taking a chance on him not just last year but ten years ago for hiring her.

-- She is asked about her Queen of the Ring win in Saudi Arabia. Jax says it was a pretty cool moment and when HHH came to the ring to crown her, it hit a new level. Jax put over her opponent in the match, Lyra Valkyria.

-- The next question asks about her alliance with Tiffany Stratton. Stratton says she would do anything for Nia and tonight, she helped her win the title. Stratton says she can't wait for what the future has in store for them both. She shows off her custom Money in the Bank briefcase/bag.

-- They are asked how their bond began. Stratton says Jax hand picked her on the way to Australia for Elimination Chamber. Jax said Stratton was a newbie on her first international tour and she wanted to make sure she was safe and they just clicked right off the bat. Jax says Stratton is like "lightning in a bottle" and she's the total package. Jax says she is also excited to see where their alliance goes.

-- They go back to the panel with Drew McIntyre. He is asked if he is done with CM Punk and McIntyre says of course it's over, as he beat him and humiliated him. McIntyre is asked what sort of satisfaction there is after losing his title at WrestleMania. McIntyre gives Punk a bit of credit and says he expects an excuse from him soon. We see a split screen of Punk. McIntyre says people are finding out what type of person Punk is - a prick. The last question McIntyre is asked if Punk will get further motivated now to keep McIntyre from winning a title. Drew basically says he's not.

-- We cut to a backstage interview with Gunther. He says having the title around his waist feels deserved. Gunther is asked about Damian Priest being betrayed by Finn Balor and whether this victory feels tainted. Gunther says it doesn't, nothing to be ashamed of. From this day forth, the legacy of the World Championship belongs to him and anyone disagrees, they know where to find him.

-- We go back to the press conference and next up is new United States Champion LA Knight. The first question is how Knight overcame doubt when things weren't going his way during his career. He says that there was never any doubt even though things might not have been going his way. Knight says he doesn't know how to quit or stop, and he points to an example from his childhood. Knight says he never stopped believing.

-- The next question asks about how it felt to finally win a top WWE title. Knight says "long overdue", but it feels like the right time to him.

-- The next question to Knight talks about how everyone is happy to see Logan Paul lose the title. How does it feel to be the person to beat Paul. Knight says he was just looking to win the title and not necessarily to beat Paul.

-- The final question for Knight is if Logan Paul isn't back for a rematch, who is the next person that he thinks is a worthy challenger for the US title. Knight says he just won the title and doesn't know. Everyone in WWE is bringing it right now and killing the game, so anyone can come along and challenge him. This has been a long time coming and there's no way he's letting it go anytime soon.

-- Cody Rhodes is up next. The first question is about his dog. Cody says Pharaoh is 13 years old and he's thriving and doing great but the "pack" is at home now. Cody talks about when he's at the low points in his career, his dog sat with him all night. He doesn't want to keep dragging Pharaoh on the road if he would rather be at home with his daughter.

-- The next question asks what his thoughts were on having another Bloodline Rules match. Cody says it's his match, they've had two of them and he's won them both. Cody says that if Roman Reigns didn't return, that match would have most likely gone the other way. Rhodes says there's no love lost between them, a unique relationship, but he owes him one. Cody says they haven't even spoken since WrestleMania.

-- Cody is then asked where do things go from here with this championship and with Roman Reigns. He says the current WWE landscape, you can't call it and the recent WrestleMania documentary proves that plans can go to hell. Cody says that Reigns is entitled to a rematch and that match has to happen and it's somewhat scary to him. The idea is there and they aren't friends and it's something to stay tuned to on Smackdown - what happens to the Bloodline. What happens with Roman, Solo and Jacob Fatu. There are a lot of match options and that's for the man who is going to be here next to decide what's next.

-- Cody is asked about Arn Anderson's appearance during his entrance. Rhodes says Arn has been with him for a long time, he couldn't have his Dad with him so he wanted someone who was there with him. He puts over Arn's intelligence and says that it was special to have a moment with him. Cody says he hopes we see more Anderson in the future. Cody talks about how WWE sent out a text to all the talent today outlining all the legends who would be there and he gives props to WWE's team for coming up with that.

-- He is asked about what is Cody's next challenge now that he has completed the story and Roman Reigns is back. Cody says Cleveland is where "Stardust" started and now he is standing there, a former enhancement guy, as the guy. Rhodes says that with Roman returning, neither of them are flinching. WWE is in the stadium business now and it's a good problem to have.

-- New WWE Intercontinental champin Bron Breakker joins the panel. He says it feels surreal to win his first WWE title and he met up with his Dad and his uncle in the legends suite and gave them a hug. It's something he will always remember. Breakker says they are just getting started and there's a long road ahead with a lot of years. He's just going to enjoy tonight and move forward. Bron is then asked about his epic NXT run and if he feels if he's reached another gear on the main roster lately. He says that he did feel that and it's his time now and he realizes how big this opportunity is and what the stakes are. Breakker says he thinks he proved tonight that he's here to stay as a big, dominant player. He wants to elevate the championship and carry it with prestige and honor and he can't wait to get to work and put himself against all challengers. Breakker then puts over Sami Zayn, who is shown walking in the backstage area. Breakker says Zayn will be in the Hall of Fame one day and thanks him for giving him an opportunity at the Intercontinental title.

He talked a bit about the Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley match, praising both women. He says he thought the CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre match was a masterpiece and there was so much drama with Seth Rollins as well as great story-telling. HHH says he's thrilled for CM Punk to do this late in his career and to make everything right. Priest and Gunther...he said that Gunther is one of the most deserving wrestlers and is running with his own style while with Priest, a lot of people doubted him as champion and he's also proved them all wrong. Finally, Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa. He talks about Sikoa taking over from Roman Reigns as a relative newcomer and having the pressure to carry on the Bloodline storyline.

-- HHH mentioned that Logan Paul and Jacob Fatu (leg) were two wrestlers who came out of SummerSlam a little bit banged up.

-- HHH said he's very excited about the second half of 2024 and he and Nick Khan had a specific agenda how they wanted things to play on. He talks about the upcoming PLEs - Bash in Berlin, Bad Blood, Crown Jewel and Survivor Series. He says the year will close out big and the future is bright and this is the most amazing roster he's ever seen. Everyone is having a blast and they are all just charging ahead.

-- Triple H is asked if there were any moments in NXT that shaped his current vision as current head of creative. HHH says there are lots of moments and he approaches things as a fan, and asks himself how can he make this the biggest thing I've ever seen and he's been fortunate in his career to sit next to some of the greatest minds in this business. He sat next to them and absorbed it and paid attention, whether it was his opponents or guys like Dusty who he helped creative NXT with. He also talks about learning from failures in NXT too.

-- HHH is asked about the relationship with TNA and how they decided to make the relationship last so long and what fans can expect in the future. HHH says they are "open for business" and they will look to see how it will benefit us and how it will benefit their partners. HHH says that some of the talent in NXT, they need their repetitions and if they can help the business of their partners, to get them on a higher viewed platform and brand. He says we will see more of that and the world is different now. He wants the young guys to get their reps.

-- HHH is asked about Stephanie McMahon's appearances WWE and whether she has a role right now with the company and if she could in the future. He says she does not have an official role but that Stephanie is enjoying watching WWE and enjoying coming to the show and seeing everyone in the back. HHH says we will see what the future holds and he would expect to see her around in the future because she loves it and enjoys being around.

-- Triple H asked about John Cena and where WWE is with discussions with him. HHH says Cena has an "expiration date" on him and he will be coming back soon. He said that Cena has earned the right to do what he wants, when he wants and he believes it is the beginning of the year, John will come back. It is a farewell tour that has an end to it and John will come back and have a blast. Cena will be there for Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania all of which will be his last ones. And then it will end, it will be the end of seeing John Cena compete actively in the ring. HHH says it's a huge honor to be able to sit with Cena and craft his farewell tour. He said he's thrilled for Cena.

-- The last question asked HHH about future of SummerSlam and whether this was possibly the last one-night event. HHH says nobody knows what the future bring, but tonight, a seven match card goes four hours long. He says they could have put have more in and it would have been eight hours. But you still need content for Raw and Smackdown. As they continue to grow, they will take it step-by-step. As for whether this is the last one-night SummerSlam, he thinks it is but they will see where it will go long term. He talks about WWE's vision of bringing their events to the world, and not just to the United States. They want to be as big as they can possibly everywhere. He thanks everyone for being there as the press conference wraps up.
