According to Netflix, WWE star Pat McAfee has officially joined the cast of the new World War II film titled “The Mosquito Bowl.” In the film, he will portray a U.S. Marine drill instructor. The movie is directed by Peter Berg, known for his work on "Battleship" and "Friday Night Lights," and is currently being filmed in Australia.
Filming began earlier this month in Queensland, Australia, a detail confirmed by Screen Queensland, the Australian government-owned agency that invests in locally produced films, series, and digital games. “The Mosquito Bowl” is set to debut on Netflix at a later date.
The film also stars Nicholas Galitzine (known for "The Idea of You" and "Masters of the Universe"), Bill Skarsgård (from "Nosferatu"), Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis. It is based on the true story of four top American college football stars who put their fame aside to enlist in the Marines following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
As previously reported, McAfee stepped away from his WWE broadcasting duties earlier this year.
