Last night's WWE Friday Night SmackDown episode emanated from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and several references was made to ECW as Philadelphia is most often associated with the ECW brand. Following the main event match between WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Montez Ford in which The Tribal Chief defeated one-half of the Street Profits, Paul Heyman grabbed the microphone and offered a suggestion to the WWE Universal Champion to take it to the extreme.
Heyman’s promo would then lead to WWE SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee saying that Heyman calling for the extreme in Philadelphia can not be good news.
Prior to last night's SmackDown going on the air, McAfee would pay tribute to ECW Original Sandman by making his way down to the ring to “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. McAfee would then smash the announce desk multiple times with a kendo stick.
