"The Ring General" GUNTHER has become a two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion after defeating "Main Event" Jey Uso on this past Monday night’s episode of RAW.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque made the decision for GUNTHER to dethrone Jey Uso as he wants him to defend the title at Saturday Night's Main Event on July 12th. The report indicates that the plan has always been for GUNTHER to face Goldberg in Goldberg's retirement match at that event, and Triple H opted to make it a title match.
Additionally, the report highlights that GUNTHER vs. Goldberg is intended to air on NBC to compete with AEW's All In: Texas, providing a significant match on free TV. Goldberg is scheduled to return on Monday’s RAW in Green Bay, Wisconsin, although the company has not officially announced this yet.
