Pro Wrestling Legend Inducted Into The Georgia High School Football Hall Of Fame

The Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame recently announced the induction of pro wrestling legend Ron Simmons. This past Saturday, he was honored as part of the induction of two prestigious 1970s high school teams: the 1971 Valdosta team and the 1976 Warner Robins team. Simmons played as a linebacker for the 1976 Warner Robins team.

During the 1976 season, Simmons recorded an impressive 130 tackles, contributing to Warner Robins’ undefeated record. Similarly, the 1971 Valdosta team also completed their season without a loss. Following his high school career, Simmons played college football at Florida State University from 1977 to 1980 and briefly played in the NFL, as well as in the CFL and USFL, before transitioning to professional wrestling.

The Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame was established in 2021. Other nominees for this year’s ceremony included notable figures such as Kirby Smart, Cam Newton, Sterling Sharpe, and Keith Brooking.

In 2012, Simmons was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and has made occasional appearances on WWE programming since his in-ring retirement that same year.
