During the episode of AEW Dynamite that aired this past Wednesday night, Jake Doyle teamed up with his Don Callis Family stablemate Mark Davis to challenge FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax "The Axe" Harwood) for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
Unfortunately, Doyle faced a significant setback just weeks after his AEW debut, as he sustained a torn bicep during the match. Ultimately, FTR emerged victorious, aided by interference from the reigning AEW Continental Champion, Jon Moxley.
The injury occurred midway through the match when Doyle was taking a DDT on the apron from Wheeler. While trying to hold onto the top rope, he landed hard on the edge of the ring. Doyle was seen visibly expressing his injury immediately after the spot. The nature of the injury was later confirmed by Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, although AEW has yet to release an official statement.
This unfortunate injury comes shortly after Doyle joined AEW on the January 7th episode of Dynamite. The former TNA star quickly aligned himself with The Don Callis Family and secured a victory in a 4-Way Tag Team Match alongside Mark Davis at Dynamite: Maximum Carnage, which earned them a shot at FTR’s World Tag Team Championship. Updates regarding Doyle's injury and whether he will need to miss any in-ring action will be provided as they become available.
