The finish of the fatal four-way match for the World Heavyweight title saw Seth Rollins receive assistance from a somewhat unlikely source. With Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed banned from the arena and Paul Heyman "hospitalized" due to injuries, Rollins got an assist from wife Becky Lynch, who appeared under a mask and low-blowed CM Punk.
The finish immediately had fans talking about a possible return of former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee, who is Punk's wife and according to a report by fightfulselect.com, Lee's name has been coming up within WWE as of late.
According to the report, there have been "numerous pitches internally" mentioning Lee's name even though she has primarily been uninterested in returning to the ring after more or less retiring from WWE ten years ago, and that these pitches weren't immediately shut down as they were in the past. Sources in WWE have noted that there is more of a likelihood of it happening now than in previous years though no one is ready to say that it's definitely going to happen.
To add further credence to the rumor, Punk had been skipping around the ring during a recent live event in Europe - a tip of the hat to his wife, and during the match at Clash in Paris, Rollins was heard saying that he "hated" Punk's family. Following the match, Punk also referenced a sign in the audience that said "Bring Back AJ Lee."
Lee last wrestled over a decade ago and according to the above report, one WWE source said they didn't have any concerns about her lack of activity over the years as she has kept herself in tremendous shape, not looking like someone who retired so long ago. As well, she's married to someone who was able to make an extremely effective return to the ring after a long layoff of his own.
