Report: Jack Perry Denies He Apologized For CM Punk Fight; Says He Was Denied AEW Release

-- Jack Perry continues to be absent from AEW TV with a recent report suggesting that Tony Khan is still upset at him for the incident that led to CM Punk's termination from the company with Punk turning around and joining rival promotion WWE soon thereafter. Now a story at f4wonline.com paints a bleak picture regarding Perry's future with AEW.

-- According to Bryan Alvarez, Perry disputes any reports that he "continually apologized or asked for forgiveness" in the period of time following the backstage fight with Punk at All In last August. As per Perry, following the incident, he didn't hear from Tony Khan for two months and he himself never texted or made any attempt to contact Khan either and in fact, communicated with Khan's lawyers to state that he would not be the one to reach out first. Ultimately, Khan did schedule an in-person meeting before Full Gear where plans were discussed in bringing Perry back in December. However, those plans were nixed after Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series, which seems to strengthen the report that Khan was indeed upset at those developments.

-- Meanwhile, Perry then worked with Rocky Romero and Khan to set up his current NJPW run but remains under contract to AEW, however, there are no plans to bring him back. Alvarez also reported that Perry asked for his release from AEW but was denied and hasn't talked to Khan in months nor has he cleared any of his moves for NJPW with him - such as tearing up the AEW contract and using the term "scapegoat."
