Recent reports have discussed the possibility of demolishing Madison Square Garden in New York City to make way for renovations at Penn Station, which would allow the station to expand. However, this plan will not move forward.
According to Gothamist, an alternative plan has been approved that involves rebuilding Penn Station into a train hall without requiring Madison Square Garden (MSG) to relocate. The idea of relocating MSG has been considered since 2013 when New York City renewed the venue's permit to operate above Penn Station until 2028. At that time, there was significant discussion about moving the arena from its current location, which is actually its third site.
The renovations for Penn Station will be managed by a group called Penn Transformation Partners, as announced by Amtrak. President Trump has mandated that construction begins before the end of 2027.
WWE's next event at Madison Square Garden is Saturday Night’s Main Event, scheduled for July 18th.
