Report: TNA Wrestling Bans Excessive, Intentional Bleeding During Matches

The use of excessive blood as well as intentional blading has been banned from TNA Wrestling.

TNA officials informed the locker room that effective immediately, blood will not be permitted during matches with the upcoming Steve Maclin vs. Eric Young Dog Call Match being the last bout that will be able to include intentional blading. This match was taped on 5/1 in Irvine, CA.

PWInsider.com reports that the rule was made official on Friday during a talent meeting and while intentional blading was banned, things that happen accidentally in the course of a match such as a bloody nose or mouth would still be okay an it was accepted that sometimes contact within the ring will lead to blood. It was stressed that "purposeful, heavy" bleeding is what the company is ending.

The decision was reportedly made in order to protect the health of the performers while also satisfying current and potentially future advertisers and partners. WWE made a similar move many years ago and has generally followed that rule with some exceptions with Triple H running creative. Meanwhile, AEW has no such rules in place regarding blood and has used it both on PPV and TV.
